Cave-a-lanch

So I just started an adventure, went out and killed a few high elven bandits for fun, and what do my wondering eyes find when comming back into town?

CAVE-A-LANCH!

All of a sudden my FPS fell to 0.0001, and it took about 20 minutes for this computer to finish it.  The smoke still hasn't cleared in the lower areas, but it looks to go at least to the first cavern layer, maybe lower.

I've heard about this kind of thing happening often, so why do I even mention it?

I have a save file from 2 seconds before it happened.  It's repeatable.  What should I do with this save?

Have fun with this, if the collapse doesn't kill your computer.

Interesting to note.  Although this is a repeatable occurance, it doesn't always collapse in the same way.  I've been running it over and over until I find one that'll let me walk down into the underworld without falling 200 z levels.

Oh geez, you guys are in for a treat.  Looks like more area than I thought was geologically unstable.  2 cave-ins this try.

Seriously, what's up with this? My human-outsider-hero is just a step ahead of the whole world collapsing in on itself. This, after a fortress which suffered similar FPS-killing cave-ins.

Something with the cave generation plus lava plus ice.  I noticed this happening only in cold, high vulcanism areas.
