The website is a bit prettier IMHO. But it has all the features for F2P.

WE KNOW.

And so does /vg/, since while I was looking for interesting stuff in the corneroids topic yesterday, suddenly AoS diversion.

No, Jagex have been involved since 0.7 I think.
About when the discussion about rocket launchers/MMGs came in on the upcoming features thing right? Coincidence? Maybe. Probably not though.

Found it on the forums. Let's keep the nostalgia filters offline, eh?

Are the nostalgia filters on or off for that picture, because I remember the old game begin exactly like that, and I'm not saying it in a good way.

Nope, that's the way the community rolled back in the days (I wasn't posting in this topic since I stopped playing AoS a while ago, but I've been playing since notch's tweet about it, so quite a while). But actually, the whole deal with Green = "Go play Minecraft"/"Aspie"/etc., giant swastikas and so on... yeah, I remember it all.

I guess that was an evolution of sorts, from bashing MC players->bashing CoD players->slow buildup of decent community... cue Jagex stepping in and ruining regulars' shit. Well, I guess the next step in evolution is bashing Jagex' fanboys, though I feel this particular one is justified (and/or I'm a grumpy old bastard now).

For all the stupidity of ye olden days, the de facto hijack is a sad, sad day for me. Although I must say, the game had signs of disease going on for a while, I hoped it will turn out right. Now? Adieu Ace of Spades, we hardly knew ye.

But to end on a more cheery note: eventually, some disgruntled Deuce with coding skills may make an actual voxel-WWI style FPS for us to enjoy, hopefully with a nice Kickstart to avert the scenario that happened to AoS.

Wait this game is still around?

I gotta admit, I stopped playing this game after they introduced autoclimb. That was around the time the amount of forts bunkers and defenses built started to decline. I understand how annoying pressing space constantly was, but once climbing up a mountain required no jumping at all, fortifying the flatter, easier paths just stopped making sense

I came in after that was introduced, but you might be interested to know that this change was partially undone a while back; auto-climb is disabled when holding down the sprint key, so it's worth defending the flatter parts but you can still be outflanked.

Since running was added as a faster way of movement, it's not so much undoing, just giving drawbacks to a new feature.
