The astroturf thing doesn't really matter.  It's just really, really annoying when people go on and on about it being a grassroots movement as if it validates their movement when it isn't even that.
Please prove this without op-eds.  Please provide the facts detailing the financial transactions.  Please tell me who gets how much money when and from who.  Please tell us which tea party organizations receive all this false funding and how people like me arent really in a grassroots movment, but instead following the dictates of some bogeyman.  Maybe he has psychic powers and forced me to join the tea party.  I dunno.  Convince me of your opinion with facts.

Independant, if only because I have become jaded and withered by the legions of uneducated democrats and republicans posting and having arguments on every political article ever existing on the internet.

Democrat, because I am too cynical to believe voting independent is anything but throwing my vote away.

Maybe he has psychic powers and forced me to join the tea party.  I dunno.  Convince me of your opinion with facts.

No, you are a dupe at worst. At best just a believer who believes just a tad to much.

Billionaire bothers lead team of billionaires.

Dem billionaires funding tea party party. (To be honest this one is really fucking big so I might have skimmed)

Some guy gives a million bucks to the tea party

I'm still confuzzled about what the whole point of the original question was.

The Tea Party started as fiscal conservatives, and just like any other political party, it has been corrupted by politicians trying to get their own little talking points in.

Most of the early Tea Partiers I heard / knew / spoke to would have been happy with a Social Security / Medicare / Medicaid / Tax Reform / Balanced Budget platform.

These days, a whole couple years later, there are people trying to inject all sorts of other nonfiscal crap into the Tea Party.

In essence, the Tea Party was a subset of the Republican party, mostly "old school" Republican policies.

If the Tea Party could stay a party devoted only to fiscal issues, I could see myself being sympathetic to them, but what I'm seeing is a bunch of stupid social issue crap being added to the Tea Party agenda.

I'm fine with letting the religious folks be religious, but they need to get away from national politics.  Separation of church and state.

How did I miss the existence of this thread?
(Don't attempt to answer that.  Down that path lies ... well I was going to say madness but you all run towards madness as if it was made from chocolate and puppies.  Just forget I said anything.)

And we go right back to the off-topic topic we were on before we decided to go off that topic and back on-topic with the topic that was on-topic before we delved into off-topic.

For the record, I can't (legally) vote. So it doesn't much matter what party I would or wouldn't be a part of anyways.

There aren't actually any hobos where I live. And burning gas money to go somewhere to give a hobo a $20 to vote for me when he'll just pocket the twenty and forget the whole thing? Naah, not worth it.

Duh, that's why you have to give the hobo the $20 after he votes (or at least goes into a voting booth and pretends to vote).

Damn it Gorjo. take some god damn responsibility. You can't just say "Oh well... We voted them in but they are not what we expected! They are totally not ours anymore no takesy backsys."

You vote a politician in and that is your politician. You can not 'hijack' voters, it makes no sense!
