Pokemon: Perilous Platinum
« on: April 04, 2011, 02:46:18 am »

I'm going to try this again, but this time from the beginning so that it's actually a Let's Play instead of a boring AAR. I will be carrying over the three descendants of the three survivors of the last game to replace the starter with, but I doubt that they'll last overly long in this cruel and unusual world. Something that may help this LP is the fact that I have the option of running my game on an emulator, which I can take screenshots of. (Pirate hunters take note that I do in fact own the game.)

Pokemon. The word conjures images of a simple game, a challenge that may be overcome by eight-year-olds on a playground. That is not this game. This game is a thing of horrors. This is the most extreme self-imposed challenge that I have ever attempted, a glorious endeavor fit only for those who have tired of the petty challenges offered by the game itself. This is not a game that will create the best team. Rather, it will create a team of the strongest and longest-lasting Pokemon that will one day win glory in the Hall of Fame, a testament to the awesome challenge they have surpassed.

RULES
  • If a Pokemon faints, it is released. No resurrection witchcraft here.
  • You may only capture one Pokemon per route. You can only catch the first one you encounter.
  • You may only catch this Pokemon if it is a species that you do not own.
  • If this Pokemon faints or flees, too bad.
  • No communist healthcare. For every Pokemon in your party when you go to a Pokemon center, find a way to get rid of ((# of owned Gym Badges)x(200)x(# of healed Pokemon)) Pokebucks.
  • No savescumming.
  • You may only use three healing items per battle, and Full Restores are banned, as are Revives.
  • All Pokemon in the party must be within three levels of each other, and you must fill your party as much as you can.
  • You must play with Set battle mode. You don't get a free switch after you KO a foe's Pokemon.
  • You may freely catch legendary Pokemon, but you cannot use them in battle.
  • All Pokemon must have nicknames (When suggesting, pick manly names.).
  • No running from a battle, no matter its difficulty.
  • While battling Gym Leaders or the other trainers within the Gym, you may only have as many (or less) Pokemon in your party as the Gym Leader.
  • You cannot use the move Fly. Walking is where glorious combat lies.

I'm using a copy of Pokemon Platinum, and the theme here is MANGRIT. Now all may witness the horrible tragedies that occur when...

DEATH IS FOREVER.

This game will be starting fairly soon, I'm just prepping the thread. I still have to transfer a couple Pokemon to my emulator and make sure the screencap function works, but we should be ready within a matter of days.

Oh hell yes! I love nuzlocke Let's Plays!

If we're allowed to make requests, then I'd like to request an Electric-type named Krieg, or a flying type named Garm

Good to see you bringing this back up Barbarossa. I loved the bit of story you had going on in your last one, so I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Psh, the basic Nuzlocke challenge is for pansies. More than three healing items per battle? Weaksauce. Have a short update, because you love them so much.

Well, what is to be our name? Make it an awesome one. Five letter maximum.

Still think Conan could be fun, or were you trying to differentiate the two threads apart?

If you're keeping them separate, how about Mundo? :P
