It takes a lot of tech to be fast enough to stay out of range and still carry the equipment required to kill the enemy.
That's just blatantly wrong.  All you have to do is put 1 more 250 ton engine on each ship (instead of a launcher, or the armor you're not using), increase the sizes of your sensors (active and fire control) by 1 tick (removing a launcher, or the armor you're not using), and design your missiles appropriately.  Obviously this isn't the case if your enemy out-techs you, but it's accurate if you have equal levels of tech.

And yes, I'm aware that you usually won't have an equal level of tech as your opponents.  But, given any ship at all (except those already tuned for maximum hit-and-run tactics) and you could design an equal-weight, equal-tech ship with a higher max speed and longer range.  And it's usually as simple as +1 engine, +1 sensor size, -300 tons of something.

I also want to say, you're right.  Better ships usually mount armor.  But I honestly want to see someone adopt a doctrine of glass cannons and see how it ends for them.

If you create any kind of salvage ship or mining ship, crewman Binwin Bingington IV will take the helm!

The class for the mining ship should be called Jupiter.  The ship should be called, "Red Dwarf".
And it will be staffed by a moody hologram, a cat dancer, and a hapless crewman?

Don't forget the Series 4000 mechanoid.

I'm tempted to design a Jupiter Corp Mining vessel in my game, complete with shuttles and a crack marine unit called "The Canaries", stored on floor 13.

If you're still posting, Deadmeat, could you post your ship designs? In code tags. Just copy/paste the ship info box.

Sorry about the delay, took a break from Lp's after I was ill! Will post the full ship designs soon!

First thing will be to learn how to make a ExtraSolar Colony! I have at least the majority of tech needed, but I never got around to it.

Hyperdrives only work when far from the system's sun.  They really are not too effective in a single-star system.

Also, you should give comercial engine to your colony ship.

And cargo ship.

Also, your colony ships are quite a bit on the slim side. You might want to add more cryro so you get more for each trip.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.
