Serious Sam BFE is on flash sale for -90% off. If you don't currently have it you should really consider picking it up.

*strokes chin* mmm. yeeeessss. Is it worth the extra $1 to get the soundtrack and the 3 extra campaign missions?

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

I didn't find the soundtrack particularly amazing although it suited its purpose well enough in the action scenes.

Jewel of the Nile is not exactly the most impressive DLC. It's mostly a giant "hub world" where you run around trying to unlock gates in order to move onto the next level. The main reason to get it is so you can install the Serious Sam Extended mod which greatly improves the main campaign variety and fixes the few flaws it had. I believe some of the really good survival maps use its assets as well

Natural Selection 2 for 90% off on the Steamy beanies. That's just silly.

I bought it for 75% off a while ago, so excuse me while I go flagellate myself for a bit over that $3.75.

The servers came up pretty soon after going down for me. It would appear that we lost the community choice, though.

How is Arma 2 if I were to play singleplayer only? I can derive fun from just about anything, but if the AI is as bad as people of various other forums suggest, I might have some issue with that.

I know Arma 3 is out now, but I've got a backlog of games. I can justify dropping $8 on something I may not play for months, but $45 is a bit much.
The campaign of ARMA 2 isn't worth a damn but I got a lot of fun out of some singleplayer custom missions like 'Flashpoint - Chernarus' (and it's sister mods), which is basically a roguelike mode (it randomly generates you as a character at a random part of the huge maps and then assigns you missions and spawns enemy and friendly forces who are at war). There are AI mods that make it a bit better as well.

There's also an online program to create custom missions very easily and with some mod support, so you can take part in a massive combined arms attack and die to the last surviving enemy infantryman.

It looks like the sale is coming to end as the community votes are no longer available. I can't say it was the most impressive sale but there was a couple of great deals.

All I can say is fuck steam trading cards. I've gotten almost doubles of every snow globe except for #5 and although I've gotten numerous booster packs of games I've never been able to craft a badge. I've made a point to never trade cards and I'm almost convinced at this point you cannot earn a badge without either trading or using the market. I'm glad they're useless  or I might actually be upset.

Does anyone know whether that Natural Selection thing has a singleplayer mode, or bots of some kind? It seems interesting, but considering that I don't play multiplayer pretty much ever...

Err. I thought that was common knowledge :P. You cannot get all the cards of a game by yourself.

edit: If you add me on Steam I can dump all my cards/globes/crap on you. I'd put them on the market but that takes too much time.

No thank you but still thanks for the offer. Like I said I'm quite fine with the fact that I haven't been able to form a single badge (as they don't do anything really). It's just that I'm feeling a bit conspiracy theorist.

[as I was writing this I spilt a full can of Guinness on my floor/favourite mouse pad and have currently lost the will to live]

An edit regarding previous statement and any future PMs. I was making a hyperbolic statement on the cost of getting decent draught outside of the uk/ireland. I do not intend self-harm. The real story involves me slamming my desk after reading a particularly stupid youtube comment (in between posting here). To my misfortune I happened to slam my fist right into a pint glass and did quite a number on my hand, floor and favourite mouse pad. I am (basically) fine but hopefully wiser.

Moral of the story: Don't Read Youtube Comments.

The sales have left me underwhelmed. So much crap. Also, why so many alpha's?!?

I don't know, I got plenty of good games from it.

As for the alphas, well, that's because indie and in-development games are the most interesting right now.

Also, what you see on the frontpage is far from the whole list of things on discount.

Hmmm... community voting seems to have ended, which normally implies the sale ending, but the sale says it runs to the 3rd. Probably a good time to grab those things that you have waited on for in case a better deal came up.

Well lucky me sold all of them. I kept selling them as fast as i could so i always sold them 1 cent cheaper. Heck at the beginning they were selling for 30+ cents so i think i managed to earn a 1 or 2 EU during the sale.
Of ocurse now the prices went down the drain but selling htem for over 15 cents was fun while it lasted.

Multiplayer is definitely the only way to play, sorry. You can load up a game with bots to try out things, but that's about it.

According to the news thing the sale ends at 10am PST today, which I gather is when the current countdown hits zero.  So yeah, now's the time.
