Speaking of Stream, we are prepared for it. Except for that whole 'having people' thing. :P

So, while that's being worked on, would anyone like to see some Romancing SaGa 3? It's got a complete, if pretty Engrish, translation, has the best combat out of the series, and the best implementation of permanent character death. It also does the open-ended thing surprisingly well for a jRPG; you select one of 8 characters, get an opening vignette in the form of a short quest, gather and outfit your adventuring party, and go!

Before we can start, we need to choose our main character, their Star Sign, and their Weapon Focus. I'll leave this up for folks to mull over for now; I'm hoping to start it within the next few days (if not later tonight).

Quote from: Characters
Harid: Exiled lover of a desert princess, now gone hardass mercenary. He is a master of armed combat, but specializes in curved swords.
         Str: 19/Dex: 14/Spd: 21/Con: 15/Int: 16/Wil: 18/Cha:19
Mikhail: The young, idealistic, and protective Marquis who sits the throne in Rhoanne. He specializes in command rather than combat.
         Str: 16/Dex: 17/Spd: 19/Con: 17/Int: 17/Wil: 21/Cha:17
Monica: Noble-born princess, and sister to Mikhail. She has little martial training, but makes up for it in bravery and charisma.
         Str: 17/Dex: 17/Spd: 18/Con: 18/Int: 13/Wil: 17/Cha:21
Katarina: The dutiful handmaid of Monica. A quick and skilled bodyguard, though gullible, she is the keeper of the holy sword Masquerade.
         Str: 16/Dex: 20/Spd: 24/Con: 15/Int: 12/Wil: 17/Cha:17
Sara: A quiet girl of simple birth, sister to Ellen, and close friend to Thomas. She is young and sickly, but has a great and giving spirit.
         Str: 18/Dex: 16/Spd: 19/Con: 15/Int: 21/Wil: 11/Cha:19
Ellen: Pragmatic and protective older sister of Sara, she works to support them both. She's a capable warrior, and hunts with an axe.
         Str: 16/Dex: 18/Spd: 20/Con: 12/Int: 17/Wil: 16/Cha:22
Thomas: A thoughtful, cautious apprentice merchant, who aspires to some day run his own company. He has a rare natural aptitude for magic.
         Str: 15/Dex: 14/Spd: 16/Con: 17/Int: 22/Wil: 16/Cha:19
Julian: A young, aspiring warrior from a simple background. He has an unrequited love for Ellen, and a bit of a Hero complex.
         Str: 19/Dex: 17/Spd: 15/Con: 16/Int: 15/Wil: 23/Cha:12

Gonna vote Sara with a Fighter sign (to make up for her low Con) and maybe Maces?

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Oh, I should say that each character has a subplot of their own, and each plays significantly differently. Playing as Mikhail makes you also responsible for administering and defending Rohanne (complete with commanding large-scale wars), and Monica must stay on the throne if you are adventuring. Playing as Katarina means you are responsible for watching after both Monica through her misadventures, and keeping the Holy Sword Masquerade safe. Playing as Thomas opens up a mercantile system where you take over your father's trade company, and deal with other companies. Being of noble birth means you get free equipment. Being Harid makes you a very valuable military ally, and a dangerous enemy to many. Being Sara means [REDACTED]. Etc.

EDIT: These aren't the only characters, either... and in fact, most of these are exclusive of one another, and can't be in the same party. You primarily have to rely on recruiting other characters, aside from certain cases when you can join with one of them (Sara with Ellen or Thomas, Harid and Mikhail, etc.)
