Soli, you were able to stream a game as detailed as Amnesia at a rather decent rate and everything. Any tips(or Procaster settings) you can provide to help me be able to broadcast? I've been running into a good share of issues even trying to get more than a minute of airtime up. I have to resort to playing and having it record, and then uploading the file later. Not exactly what I'd call a livestream. Thanks.
Do you use the game setting or the desktop one? Theres two modes so to speak.
I use desktop. Easier to manage.

THen don't be suprised if 3d games lag, my computer is okay powerful, but I lagged heavily in Mount and Blade in Desktop, Game Mode gives TONS more fps.

It's not as much lagging than it is the recording crashing mid-flight. I can still upload a complete video afterward, but the connection to the channel dies a minute in. And trust me, I killed my graphics until it was a grey screen (so to put it, I put it to such low settings, 4-bit games looked better). It still dies mid-flight.

I already re-installed and updated Procaster, and it just sucks. I have past recordings where it wasn't as temperamental, and was on desktop mode as well. I have no idea what they're pulling, but these later versions are so full of memory leaks and corrupting the connection, I think this is their scam-worthy method to force your hand to purchase an account for a proper "Full-version" of Procaster that has virtually no problems at all recording.

I may have to lurk some torrent sites to see if I'm right, at the expense of my Livestream account. I'll boycott them if this is their plan.

at the expense of my Livestream account.

Isn't this why you create a secondary account for purposes of experimentation?

Isn't some problem like this why Soli went back a version or something in Procaster?

Downgrade, see if it makes a difference. If not, it sounds like a internet problem. Checked firewalls and the like?

As far as I remember he downgraded due to sound problems, as did i.

I have Procaster 20.2.0, and I hope this info also helps.
Spoiler: Net/Wi-Fi speeds (click to show/hide)
And this is without upgrading my dinky little wi-fi adapter, which I know must be outdated, because this isn't even close to the actual home network speed's potential. My mom's machine (which does have access via direct-line) is easily 3x better than this; plus, I got that wi-fi adapter a few years ago, and it's still a wireless-G type. I'll admit, the stats aren't bad, and I can live with them sans-recording (can still beat the crap out of other people online). But still, something's a tad off when I can't stream properly when it says I'm quicker than 73% of the rest of the country on average.

Spoiler: Mine (click to show/hide)

Mine looks like that, my internet may be fast, but it's unstable and keeps running into trouble, for an example, I can't load pictures hoste don tinypic no matter what I do.

I even had problems streaming, so yeah, speed does not = Good, well functioning internet, sadly.

Anyway, the only other thing I can think of is you lacking memory. Get more ram then.

Lacking memory isn't really a problem, because I have 3GB of ram (32-bit system); and I have a dual-core processor, still decent by today's standards. The thing is, I designed my machine to at least settle on average by this year's range, and still be half decent another 3+ more years as a fallback machine. I've had it for at least 4 years; 2nd quarter 2007 was when I got the machine, and have been upgrading where I needed it most (mostly replacing parts that were wearing out or not keeping up, or simply broke). The only thing that I can trace as a part not putting out enough has to be the wi-fi adapter. Despite being a USB device, checking up with the company that made it, they have released far better models for the same price (gotta love Moore's Law), but they stopped supporting the model I have (marking it as an out-mode (though functional)).

More RAM can always help, usually. Unless you're using 32-bit Windows, which gets lost after 3.7 GB from 4GB.

I haven't streamed anything, but I have that minecraft server so I'll add my speed test to the bunch anyway.

I thought it got lost after 3.4? At least, that's what I came across, which rendered my judgement to stay at 3GB for (cost) efficiency's sake. Oh well. I know at least, that there has had to be others that have similar specs to what I have that have had less problems. I just need to figure out where these problems are hiding. Doesn't help either when malware scans and etc. can't find any problems, which then puts blame in human error, which sucks because not only do I have to admit my mistake, but I also have to figure out what the mistake was in the first place.

EDIT:
Lurked the Livestream forums, and I'm not the only one with a half-decent machine that gets these stupid problems. And even according to the requirements, I at least score mid-range. Nope, not according to Proc(r)aster. No matter the specs, you can go from minimal CPU to +80% in a heartbeat, and then 100% CPU and (CONNECTION LOST). And I even make sure the bandwidth a open enough, and still nada. I've yet to come across a solution in their forums, but at least I'm not alone about this. Makes me wish I knew how to code and deconstruct it too. Wouldn't mind figuring out the program and coming up with a solution debugging it (if only it were so simple). Sometimes, I wish Hollywood laws applied. 1-million rapid keyboard hits, and we have ourselves a superior program in less than an hour with techno beat background music being the only flaw.

EDIT EDIT:
Thanks for the tips. I'll get on it.

Just wanted to take some time to let you know, in case you missed it elsewhere; I'm without broadband service right now, and this may continue into next month. There are bigger things on my plate, and I can't keep it up. As such, I'll be unable to stream for the near future. I'm on a YarrHarr Connection right now, but it's taken me several days to find one I can use, and this one has been spotty at best... 2 days between my last period of connectivity. :/

Itnet, roll back to the previous build of Livestream. Their latest build is an audio/video desynching trainwreck. I don't have the URLs saved on this compy, but the new build was terrible for my connectivity, speed, and staying synched... somewhere on the site, they have the version history, which you can reinstall once you uninstall the new one.

As for keeping a decent stream speed when running demanding programs, the first thing I do is close all extraneous programs... everything non-vital that uses over 10,000 k of RAM. I lower my monitor resolution a few steps too, which has been a significant help when using Screen Capture mode (the program has to process less visual input when cropping each frame, and it's made the difference between unwatchably stuttery, and high-speed high-def streaming). Another workaround is to use the Direct/Game capture mode, which works with any game that uses DirectX video. It rips video directly from the software without the extra screen capture step, and tends to be significantly faster, have less glitches, and look better too. Downside is it only works with DirectX programs, and sometimes doesn't actually stream when it says it does; that's why I always check with the audience to make sure we're live. On occasions, I turn the audio quality to Mono instead of Stereo, and lower the expected framerate in the options, which helps a bit too.

Sorry for my brevity. I'll try to keep posted for as long as my net holds out. Take care, and when I'm through this, I promise many exciting streams to come! We've got more Lodoss War, the Owlboy Demo, Amnesia: Justine, and Arvoesine (a platformer with Roman Legionaries) to come!

Okay, without downgrading, I've been able to get slightly better readouts.

If I am reading the game's readout, and line it up with ProcessExplorer properly, I'm able to now keep it within 90-95% CPU, and the general framerate at an average of 28/20 (My end / receiving end (HI= 32/24 LO= 24/14)) more or less. I even watched alongside my channel (with a loss of 10 FPS, of course), but even before the quality dimishment for the first few seconds, it looked and sounded pretty decent for the short time I watched (before everything else caught up and it slugged to 5-15 FPS). Naturally I assume, as long as ProcEx shows promising percentages, and I check the overlay while playing once in awhile (Ctrl+Alt+N) to check on the bandwidth and FPS, I'll be certain of the quality rating.

I guess I'll try to use Game Mode more often for DirectX capable games to ease up the power output. Thanks again for the help. Ironically, getting rid of the Anti-lag helped out the performance greatly. Plus, in case quality wasn't up to scratch, that's what uploading the videos is for, right?

EDIT:
What helps to minimize interference of controls between programs (some may use similar commands), I advise you change all the commands to Ctrl+Alt+Shift+[CMD] since I doubt any other programs share commands that in-depth. Should make other games like Mechwarrior and the X-Wing series not accidentally activate a webcam or something while streaming.

Hmm... I noticed a lot of people have taken up streamling lately, and just learned about joint directorship options within Livestream channels. As such, I was pondering the notion of having guest streamers and such on the Stream, while I am otherwise indisposed... and perhaps even for the long term! Thoughts, prospective streamers and audience members? I think it would help to attract and share a consistent general audience. It would require some more concrete scheduling, a set of rules for prospective streamers, and could make archiving them a bit more difficult, but it is a thought.

Also, just loaded up Amnesia: Justine for a very brief trial run. In some ways, I think I'll like it better than the original. It feels a bit like Portal meets Saw, as renaissance-era survival horror mindscrewery. It's lovely!
