My quest deeper into "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" continues to be a magnificently creepy one, and the thunderstorm I've been having all through the stream tonight only helped. While hiding in a heap of barrels, I finally caught a glimpse of one of the Things that has been chasing me for the past 2 chapters, and narrowly avoided being seen by it several times since.

Also, after the stream, I went back to check some things I'd missed, and had what was probably one of my most profoundly disturbing gaming moment ever. While studying a painting of Alexander of Brennenburg in his ruined study, I heard a horrid, empty, howling cry behind me, and whirled around quickly with my lantern. Nothing was there... my sanity was just slipping, as it had been. I then turned back to finish looking at the portrait.

I love this game, with all its subtle disturbing touches. Very rarely are things able to affect me like this. I hope to get back to it soon!

I wish I witnessed that. I love it when games pull out surprises like that. Somehow, it reminds me of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disney World, where you watch a portrait just about do that (except turning into a skeleton).

You can tour the ride if you want (actually the beginning of the level is the beginning of the ride itself, and the picture is among the first things you see, and it does the same exact thing as the real ride), although it may be riddled with zombies when you check it out (there's a L4D level with it in great detail; it looks and feels exactly like the original, except with zombies, and getting into the ride from Moria.).
