So then I went to a thrift store
« on: March 07, 2011, 02:51:32 pm »

I went to a goodwill store in Connecticut several weeks ago,  on a school drama program's tireless search for appropriate costumes, I found a typewriter which I bought, then I gave it to my roommate. Then in the school's tireless search for completeness, we went to a salvation army depot, I bought two typewriters.
Then after coming home I went to another thrift store for no reason, and bought yet another typewriter.

Do I have a problem?

Yeah.

You've only got four typewriters.

I don't see why not though, typewriters are in my opinion, better for writing as they do not distract me like a computer does, yet all I wish I could do is bring one in to the study hall which is supposed to remain quiet at all times, it would be filled with striking and dinging, a chorus of letters heralding the night's inevitable advance.

Now you just need 999,999,996 more typewriters, and a million more monkeys.

BAM. Complete works of Shakespeare (which would be handy for a school drama program).

I must say, the quoted post is quite excellently written, I applaud you on its amazingness (which firefox says isn't a real word, but it is anyways).

As long as it has a working backspace button there's nothing wrong with a typewriter

If amazingness isn't a word then there's something wrong with common English. Anyway, in this dark day and age of digitalized data when even a book isn't written on paper anymore it is good to see that at least someone strifes to restore the typewriter to it's position of mechanical superiority.

Backspace? I grew up using the kind of typewriter where you had to stick a tiny piece of strikeout paper in the feed, back up to what you wanted to correct, and then retype the same characters so that it would punch white dust over the ink.

Liquid White-Out was a technological leap.  :P

And that sucker was purely mechanical, no electric assist. Writing reports in elementary school was an exercise in torture. On the plus side, it was like Shaolin "Finger of Steel" training.

I know I'm really tired right now, but I read that as "a million more donkeys". :-\

All I know is that you're well prepared for the zombie invasion.

So long as the typewriter ribbons hold out.

Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.
