EDIT2: well maybe i spoke to soon, i cant seem to build the workshop i did everything you said but nothing more, is there anything you are supposed to do to make sure a mod "takes".

You need to edit entity_default and add the new workshop under the "allowed buildings". The precise syntax escapes me at the moment.

[PERMITTED_BUILDING:XBUILDINGX]

Same goes for jobs (if say, you want to make Kobolds have Traders,) [PERMITTED_JOB:XJOBX] and reactions [PERMITTED_REACTION:XREACTION_NAMEX].

Oh, and I'm not sure if I put this here or not, but I made fuel from oil. No coal? It's cool. Just press a bunch of rock nuts into paste and oil, and voila, you can smelt again.

I gave the elves the ability to make magic metal to make them more difficult to kill.

I didn't personally mod it, but someone who duplicated raws managed to embark as living trees that ate wagon meat.

That led me to the conclusion that duplicating raws is like feeding your computer LSD.
Actually, i think  mis-installed a mod or something but i managed to embark as a race of phoenixes once.

Yea sure, but its not done yet. I have the custom reaction figured out but It appears to make a set of 50 of a random tipe of ammo, so you probably want to look into that. You seem to be able to make metal egg bullets too. (wich appear a bit overpowered)

Anyway, on Items_ammo:

If you can (forge/smelter) metal eggs, would adding a reaction class to the three normal and three leathery egg templates help? Or do you mean Humans come with metal eggs?

Has the reaction ever grabbed rotten eggs? In any event finally a use for eggs that should never show up for cooking because your population is too fast and grabs the turret eggs before you can forbid them... :/

@ Aramco:

Beware of putting them in fortress mode, they are invulnarable to anything but complete overkill stuff like caveins and atomsmashings. Magma just sets them on fire (strangly) but does nothing else to it.

I just put in [read:shamelessly ripped off] these, with a few modifications of my own.

Spoiler: Fluffball (click to show/hide)

I once tried changing TRAILING_DUST_FLOW to TRAILING_VAPOR FLOW, but that just made them set themselves on fire at the slightest provocation.  In the arena, nothing short of encasing them in obsidian will kill them.

EDIT: Just in case I wasn't clear, they would LIGHT THEMSELVES ON FIRE.  This did not harm them, it just made them deadlier.

That sounds oddly hilarious. :U

Also, I modded in the ability for an adventurer to manifest balls of pure RAGE. These RAGEBALLS also evaporated instantly, turning into a cloud of RAGE on impact. It was funny.

I also made normal cave cuttlefish, which fly, can psycicly grasp things, and (should be) milkable for sepia dye.
