[38a] Some engravings are blank. (Slight .33 spoilers)
« on: February 06, 2008, 03:57:00 pm »

Slight SPOILERS from version .33 follow; please close your eyes.

I'm not sure whether or not this is normal, but I haven't seen it happen before 38a, so I thought it'd be best to mention it.

In the Dwarf Fortress mode version 38a, my dwarves found a HIDDEN FUN STUFF area; the kind that is surrounded by valuable blue you-know-what. This did not involve using reveal.exe or any other utilities, and no mods were used.

There were engravings inside the area, as I have seen before, but this time they were all blank (instead of depicting suffering), each having the following description:

quote:
Engraved on the floor is a masterfully designed image.

Is this supposed to happen? I apologize if the blank engravings are normal, but it's the first time I've seen them being blank, so I was not certain.

[Edit] I forgot to mention that there are also no captives held here, the kind that I normally see depicted in the engravings. I'm guessing this is linked to the blankness of these engravings.

Its more teal, if you ask me.

And that does sound like a bug.

I agree with you, Puzzlemaker. I was really just trying not to be too specific, to dilute the potential of spoiling anything.

HIDDEN FUN STUFF = Easter eggs
HIDDEN FUN STUFF =/= Old Endgame

Oh, then it seems I've learned something new. Strange; judging from many other threads, this was also usually regarded as HIDDEN FUN STUFF, but I guess it isn't. I do see that the wiki redirects "Hidden fun stuff" to "Easter eggs", though.

Either way, I'd rather be safe and avoid spoiling. I guess the name "HIDDEN FUN STUFF" is slightly misleading, then, considering the hidden place in question still seems to be "stuff" that is very "hidden" and "fun" to encounter. In comparison, some of the Easter eggs listed in the wiki (title screen's subtitle variation, for example) are much easier to find.

Yeah, that's not supposed to happen.  Something could have gone sour when I was working on temple engravings, since they are vaguely related.

Okay, I've figured this one out, though I won't be able to patch old saves with the problem.

It's cyan, dammit.  Not teal.

By the way, what FUN was in your HIDDEN STUFF?  Type Frog, Type Tent, or type F***-all?

What time zone are you in?  For me it says you posted this at 6 in the morning.

I'd venture at somewhere in the US, probably East coast, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Toady awake at 5:51 in the morning.

Only the odd ones?  What about the even twos?
