If you were a dwarf, what would you want in a fortress?

I would want plenty of food, and my own room.

And not to be a noble.

And to go on break whenever a lever is ordered to be pulled.

I would try to make shure I become a weaponsmith those guys take little risk and are usually assigned good rooms. With this in mind I would just want a lot of cage traps in the fort to make shure I would remain save.

ooo, tough call.

it would be nice to have an artifact of my own, but baring that I would just want some variety of food and some nice things to look at. If I have to keep eating plump helmets and weaving pigtails for the rest of my life I think I'll start killing cats and breaking furniture.

 My room full of pressure plates, each one of them does something hilarious and fun. One of them opens up the circus and brings out the clowns.

I'd want the floors littered with thousands of tons of loose stone.  Even more then that, I'd really want to have to move that stone every time I wanted to move my furniture around.  That's a true dwarfs fulfillment.
