My name is Aramco Nisham, of Shukaradil. Me and six other dwarves have been sent to Datanmabdug, with the sole purpose of setting up a successful outpost. The others have taken to calling themselves "Lalminkot." Initial surveys of the surrounding look good, we have flux, two exposed veins of magnetite, and plenty of lignite/bituminous coal. I ordered a basic fortress to be carved out, and some trees to be felled. The farm was irrigated (and made a bit of a mess of mud), so now crops plump helmets can be planted. I personally took stock of our stocks, and tried to measure our created wealth, to no avail. I should work on my appraisal skill. The trade depot is up and running, in case the caravan should come early. Speaking of caravans, our caravan is not expected until late autumn, which is six months away. Luckily we brought sufficient booze to last until our still is running.

Alright, I may have designated a better bedroom for myself... but, as expedition leader, I deserve one... right?  Now everyone is eating off of my table. It's upsetting me.  Hah! Now the bedroom/office/dining room is MINE! I'd like to see you TRY and eat off MY table! No, not really. If you were determined, you probably could manage it. So... just don't use it, okay? It's a shame some of it had to be constructed walls, because now it can't be engraved. Plant stocks were sufficient to begin booze production today, so no worries of running out.  I saw some deer outside, which are edible. So no worries for food, either. Time to produce cages. We got the cage traps done today, then some migrant arrived. I hope the prove useful, otherwise... well... we might need to build some coffins. Right, nine. Nine migrants. None with any worthwhile skills. Hmmm.... Well, I'm felling generous today. I won't kill them. I'll... Draft them!! No, we don't have any iron yet... Then they can be... Farmers! MOAR PLUMP HELMETS!

Alright, the order to set cage traps is looking like it was a mistake. Everyone is coming into my office, complaining that we don't have any cages. I can only hope that our carpenter finishes them
soon... I saw one of our dwarves hunting today, and brought him into my office. I asked, "Where did you get those bolts?"
He replied, "I don't know..."
"Oh, well... keep hunting, I suppose." While I do still wonder where he got the bolts, I am satisfied with the deer meat he got us. And the hoary marmot. But mostly just the deer. Speaking of hoary
 marmots, one got caught in a cage trap. What shall I do with it? War Marmots, anyone? As autumn arrives, I grow ever more aware of the fact that we have NOTHING to give the caravan. What shall we
 produce? How about rock mugs? All Dwarves like those. At least I think they do... No matter, there are important matters to attend to. As our food stocks increase, the amount of time it takes to
 count it all also increases. Soon I'll be doing nothing but counting. How unexiting. Our hunter just ran out of ammo, so now we have to rely on our cages for meat. And the hoary marmot we just caught.
 Now we have two. Not a breeding pair, unfortunately. On an unrelated note, I ordered those magnetite veins to be dug out. Maybe we can get an iron industry going? Oh... a Giant Eagle. I've heard
 stories about the havoc they  can cause... I hope it gets caught in one of our cage traps! We caught it!! This is the greatest thing to ever happen!! AND THERE'S ANOTHER ONE! CATCH IT! Come on, just a little
 closer... Well, the caravan is here. Maybe the have something useful for us. Oh no... The eagle left. Only one for us. And three kobold theives. Within a few days of each other. I had ten more cages set,
 in case another eagle decides to show up. Oh, look. We caught a fox. Unbelievable. I am in shock. Oh, and we caught a raccoon. And a deer. The shock is unceasing. No, not one deer. Two. Oh, and
 two raccoons. Two of everything. Execpt for giant eagles, the only thing I have interest on getting. No, three deer. This is getting ridiculous. And another fox. A fourth deer. How stupid are these
 deer?! I want Giant Eagles, not deer! Oh! That makes five deer. No, scratch that-- six deer. Well, it's been a year since I took office. I have decided to leave it at that, and retire. I drew a rough
 map of the fortress for my successor--
