Ooo, a surprise, interesting.  Overall I'd rate those two days as "meh", but they weren't too bad a I suppose.  You'll get em next time I bet though  ;)

Today was pretty routine though...

90% of war is marching.

Mhmm.  I remember WWII Online, a MMOFPS.  Thirty minutes just getting to the front, only to be shot by some enemy you never saw.  Die, start the whole process over again.

Yeah, at times, but usually the spawn was closer, 10 min or less to contact...

Flight sims online perhaps the "worst" or "best" in this regard, however you like your games.  :)

Day 1 was horrible, day 2 was slightly positive.. We'll see how day 3 works out. Depends on weather and if the Allies continue the ground support attacks or not.

Well I have to admit.  One time we formed a panzer column complete in a coordinated combined arms exercise with infantry in trucks and air cover.  Took us about an hour to drive to the target, mostly because the CO insisted on staying in formation.  Textbook approach, we break from cover to assault the town, only to all get taken out over the course of about 45 seconds without getting a single shot off.  Worse still, that was the last of that unit's armor :\

June 28th

Air war news it is again. Against all expectations... B-17s fly! 37 of them visit Rabaul, and the CAP is puny 4 Zeroes and a single Ki-45. In a heroic act, a Zero from Tainan Ku S-1 shoots down a B-17 right from the first head-on, scoring also his 5th kill. The B-17s bomb 14 aircraft(1 bomber, 5 Zeroes and 6 Ki-45s), however there are no pilot losses on the ground, and many bombers are damaged.

17 P-39s strike Gasmata at low level, and meet the Japanese CAP: 5 P-39s are confirmed shot down, 4 more at least heavily damaged.

Other than the ones destroyed on the ground, Japanese losses are only 3 Zeroes and 1 Ki-45, all operational losses with no pilots hurt. Ki-45 debut in fighter combat, shooting down a P-39. The Zero A6M2 unit also makes its combat debut, shooting down a P-39.

Not too shabby.  I'm a fan of B-17s, but then again can't exactly root for them against you  :P  Feels nice to finally get one I bet.  Hopefully some more will follow shortly.

At least until he brings fighter escorts, sufficient numbers of Ki-45s seem to be enough to make raids against major airfields counter-productive to him. We have destroyed 9 Liberators and 5 B-17s during the last 2 days - and possibly even more than that. I have no idea where his P-38s are, and I'm yet to see one... He must have had them for at least a month or so now. Possibly still training at the West Coast.  :P

The Allies are unloading troops at Milne Bay(southern, southeastern most tip of the New Guinea)... Lets go check out the party. Taking part: cruisers Tone, Chikuma, Atago, Myoko and Mogami, escorted by 4 destroyers. Task Force commander is himself legendary Admiral Tanaka. Turn sent back now...

Damn, he's attacking? Hopefully that'll end with loads of troopers starving in the Jungle.

Hopefully as many as possible go down with the unloading ships. We have 5 ships spotted, 2 confirmed transports. The force is ordered to go in and out at full speed, A6M2-Ns from Bougainville(Shortlands) provide air cover but Milne Bay itself is out of their range. 4 submarines are less than 24 hours away and are also ordered in.

Updating in 1 hour...

Gods...

The Allies are coming in like... NOW.

Kido Butai departs Truk. The Tanaka Squadron makes 1 hex short of its target... Which is confirmed to be over 15 transports and at least 1 destroyer.... More later.  ;)

Hes not attacking, but landing at his own hex, Milne Bay... He wants more air fields closer to Rabaul and the Solomons.

June 29th

New Guinea:

I've had some 15 submarines, many with search aircraft, in the area to follow Allied traffic... Theres now lots of it detected in the Coral Sea. A destroyer squadron found our unloading transports at Shortlands, but the force made it away(Allies dont know how to fight in the dark) - we will try to deal away with that force tomorrow night, should they choose to take chase.

Tanaka Squadron seems to be undetected, and if those 15+ transports are unloading, they have no escape. We have 5 cruisers and 4 destroyers, 4 submarines in support. The Allies have a fighter-CAP over the unloading ships that shot down a search E13A from cruiser Tone but that incident shouldnt give away the cruiser force's presence, as I have had those same aircraft operating from Rabaul and Santa Isabel, both in range.

3 x long range Hudsons attack our unloading transports at Hollandia - the CAP of Ki-43s shoot down 2, but the plane that got through puts a 250lbs bomb on a transports deck. 12 hours before the same transport was hit by a submarine's torpedo, and is sunk.

The Allies have huge amount of both transport and combat task task forces in the Coral Sea, however the largest sighted combat ships are destroyers, so I dont think this is more than a supply/reinforcement effort. The Allies also have ships at Tulagi.

Carrier Division I unfortunately isnt ready(so disregard the above post), we will instead need at least 2 more days, as I had just yesterday decided to expand some of the air units to use all the capacity the carriers have. Waiting 2 days also allows the Carrier Division II to catch up, as well as the replenishment force.

Burma: the Allies open the air war again with 50-plane strike against the 33rd Inf Division. The bombers achieve nothing, and a full 12-plane squadron of Blenheims is shot down by our fighters.

Indonesia:

Bandjoewaki falls! The last Dutch defenders are now near Batavia cut off, retreated multiple times, rotting in the mountains. The island is, effectively, now ours, dealing away with the last pieces of resistance will not take long.

In Timor, Japanese army keeps advancing and will make it out of the jungles in a couple of days. The island should be complete ours in 3 weeks.

I've decided to try this game myself and it's completely broken. Menu text goes invisible constantly, severe interface lag, fps drops, 7-8 sec load times between screens, half my button presses don't register at all and it gets completely stuck during loading if I actually try to play. Suggestions?

Possibly OS issue? I play it on W7 64bit just fine. You could/should try asking on the games forms forums, http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=528 where the developers post actively, and at least michaelm in tech support section should be able to answer all technical questions.
