Wait? What? You saying that even Russia and China voted for it?!

No, they abstained.  It's a fifteen member council, but you can choose to not vote.  That's the same thing that happened with the first Gulf War, which also makes this one of, I think, three times in history that a joint force resolution has actually passed (the other being the Korean War, which was a very unique situation indeed).

Makes sense for China. Them helping out Japan with the earthquake trouble is a nice PR boost for them and apparently they don't feel like spoiling that by supporting an unpopular dictator. Also, it's not like it's the first time a dictatorial regime dropped the hammer on another one (Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia anyone?)

Now I look like a dumbass. How was that not in my brain? I can't blame it on being hungry and overworked because I can't remember having known that.

I'm surprised Russia did not veto.  The instability in the middle east is causing high oil prices and they must love that.

Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia anyone?
Authoritarian Communist Regime =/= The freaking Khmer Rouge

There are some lines that are simply not crossed in any government, and Pol Pot didn't just cross them, he danced across them.

So what does Benghazi government still hold? Is it too late for no flight zone to get them victory, or will the international intervention be on a larger scale (ie tomahawking Gadaffi's strongholds)?

Such as bombing your own capital city while screaming that anyone who doesn't love you deserves to die?

Benghazi holds Benghazi and not that much else at this point.  Air strikes are expected within hours, but I don't know what will get hit first.  Probably Khadaffi's air strips, I'm guessing.

I think they were more put off by him openly deploying snipers and mercenaries against a protest that probably could've just been mopped up with a few well-placed military vehicles.

Ayup. Their cars are running on ethanol, so they don't mind.
