Guns should only be restricted for the:
-Mentally disabled/ whateverthepoliticallycorrectwordforretardedisnow
-Criminals

And fully automatic guns should be restricted as there is no legitimate reason for owning one except to shoot the shit out of stuff.

Handguns can be used for self-defence, otherwise I would say they should be restricted like fully automatic guns. Rifles and shotguns can be used for hunting as well as being less useful for criminals, so should not be as restricted.

it is restricted to criminals i hope it never changes, theres just the problem with people with mental illnesses, how can we label them harzard? report your findings to the FBI? But then that would be considered illegal. (patient Confidentiality)

Well, you could do it as part of the backround criminal records check.

No guns. They're useless in self defense.
Maybe if you compete a licence could be given. And even then it should be illegal to carry one around.
Or hunting. Different license. Only bolt action ones even then.

I like the way the actual competition is left ambiguous...

I consider myself very liberal. I want everyone to have every liberty that they can have without decreasing the liberty of others. I do use a very wide definition of liberty, however. As such, I feel that the liberty to own an assault weapon, which would be useless in self-defense and hunting, is not as important as the liberty of peace of mind, specifically insomuch as not being afraid that your neighbor will shoot you.

If there is a tool use for a firearm- that is to say, for self-defense, or for hunting, or lockpicking, or even sports shooting (target shooting, etc...)- then it should be allowed. Naturally, like any hazardous tool (cars, blowtorches, high voltage power supplies, alchohol), we require that people proove they are skilled and sane enough to use them safely, and respectful enough to prevent these tools from falling into the wrong hands.

You know, it's true that I haven't heard of anyone shooting a home invader, probably because they're generally smart enough to not bring weapons and as such they can't legally be shot in some circumstances.

Lockpicking? Seriously?

The problem is that a lot of the people who want to own guns the most are the type who would relish being able to shoot a home invader, even one who isn't making themselves an actual, physical threat. Hell, even ones who are running away. I'm not comfortable with gun ownership when so many of the people interested in owning guns are also interested in shooting unarmed people in the back.

with Colorado Law, they get three warnings of GTFO before you are allowed to fire at them, now how can you prove will be hard but if your stupid enough to stay put well you kinda deserved it.

Yeah, that's completely impossible to prove.  If you fire as soon as you see them, who's gonna know?

And I agree with G-Flex to some extent.  It's kindof like political power: Really wanting it should disqualify you from having it :P.

One of the main reasons to bring a shotgun to an urban area is that it's pretty good at "enabling unexpected entry of locked property". There are even shotgun rounds specifically made for blasting the locks or hinges off a door.

ah yes frangible rounds, problem with those is you need a special type of barrel and some information of how to use it. can't just use for your sawd off (that would just be stupid).

Common buckshot works just as well, though you run a slightly higher risk of getting hurt by pieces flying around.
