Well, El Nino came back to Australia, and he's carrying a sack of doorknobs. Youtube is currently crawling with footage of the huge flooding that is taking place all over the city of Toowoomba, located in south east Queensland. The important thing to remember, however, is that Toowoomba was built on a mountain.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt-FT-skins

So far in Toowoomba there's a death count of 9, and 22 people missing. And all of the signs are pointing to it being bigger than the last big flood in '74.
Time to start buying up food, hey?

Edit: By the way, That's not a river, people. That's a major street.

Well if it counts for anything, Queensland, Australia has gone through 40 days and nights of rain, and it basicaly under water right now.

Look it up on it up on a map, Queensland is sort of a big state compaired to your US states.
Australia will henceforth be known as Aqua Texas: Land of the Poisonous Everything.
Oops, I meant Aqua Texas: Ocean of the Poisonous Everything. Just wait until koalas evolve tentacles and start breeding with platypi. Then you'll really be in trouble. :P
Totally called it.

I have friends living just north of Toowoomba. Thankfully they're on a hill, but they're cut off.

I'm on the northeast coast of New South Wales, we're getting flood warnings here as well. Hopefully it won't come to anything, though. We've got a fairly big river here for it to drain into, and we're not getting the torrential rain they're getting in Queensland.

I have family in Queensland though, and they were supposed to come down this weekend for my grandmother's 80th surprise birthday party. Looks like that may be off.

It's no longer just the 'sunshine' state, NSW is getting hit too, I have some freind in Grafton who say that the worst flood for the town ever is predicted, and for Grafton, that means the hospital will be under water, as well as the reitred folks area around it.

EDIT: In other news, WA has had a bush fire. So...

Too bad hovercrafts aren't more popular; best vehicle you could possibly have for a flood-prone area.
Clearly the people of Australia: the landsea of death need to begin building rickety vehicles from scrap and commence fighting over the few resources left.

Yeah, somehow I doubt many residents of Australia really expected there to be water anywhere. Mostly because of the decade long drought precluding it.

I don't think I've ever associated Austrailia with severe flooding. Or Florida, for that matter, and I was born in Tampa which managed to dodge every single hurricane that Nature threw at it the whole 18 years I lived there.

Wow. The whole of Australia is doomed. Time to stock up on skulls, people!
