Wait, so since it's permadeath, doesn't that mean that people cannot spam weak characters to harass people? Anyone who has been playing for a while should be able to fend for themselves, right?

No, that's not how Haven works. At all.

Aside from having a ridiculously convoluted combat system, H&H is wilderness survival game that rewards community game play above a certain threshold (that point at which you can obtain high quality metal weapons) exponentially, and attaining that level on your own or with a small group of people is, in the case of latter, very difficult, and in the former, nearly impossible. This tends to get compounded with the fact that the various tribes of well-accomplished players, like any good little human society, are more interested in conquest and pillaging rather than diplomatic assimilation...

Simply put, the amount of time and a craftiness needed to get to the point where you can fend for yourself is insane, unless you have a dedicated community supporting each others' effort.

Hello all. I and some other brave Illyriad dorfs have started a village and hopefully we will soon have a brick wall up in the keep. There is a okay quality clay node nearby, the soil is above average. The local area doesn't seem filled with hostile Russian raiders, which is another plus. We hoping to eventually try out the Gondor proposal made by Yolan (http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30609) in our own incompetent manner. Anyone interested in joining the keep guardians, send me a pm.

brave dorfs have started a village

I support this message. I've been playing for a couple weeks and more dorfs are needed.

Think of this game as df but you're in control of just one dwarf. (R.I.P Urist McCheesemaker)

Don't post your HS openly, you may find griefers at your settlement if you do.  Get people to PM you for the HS.

Hmmm, perhaps you are right. The plan is try something in between a traditional village and Brodgar, might be wiser to try that sort of thing out when a brick wall is up at least amongst other things... Unfortunately, I have always played as a hermit and are not very good at this village business...

Hey guys! Haven & Hearth's lag disappeared/was fixed about a month ago, and all has been stable since. Any oldies/newbies want to set up with me?

I've been playing for 2-3 weeks, and I've decided my character is ready for town leadership. Who's with me?

PM me for HS: http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=30875&p=398662#p398662

Just north of Brodgar by a Supergrid or so if anybody wants to transposition themselves.

Don't post your HS in public or people will come to your home and physically assault you. :P

People that aren't from B12 can still see the secret! That's the main issue. ;)
