Is the Bay12 group finished? All I do now is wander through the woods occasionally, running from bears and looting huts I come across.

As I understand it, yes.

Kinda offtopic, but does anybody know any games similar to H&H? It was pretty good in W3 and W4, but devs butchered it in the W5  ::)

It stopped being fun when quality came out and minerals became scarce. New players were locked out of the interesting parts of the game because they couldn't get anything worth trading, and couldn't get the tools to make things worth trading without trading.

...And all the lifeless drones would claim every metal spot in the game in the first few hours.

Yep. Now you MUST join a village. It's mandatory. You will die otherwise.

Well, Loftar at least has expressed some distaste with the current state of the world. The problem is, they don't have the time to fix it until Salem is finished, by which point I think a lot of people will be gone. I wonder if we could convince them to let us host a W3 server, with Peters mapgen script.

What's wrong with world 4?  That was excellent without any of the world 5 pain.

I preferred 3 to 4, but that doesn't mean 4 is bad. All of them have been incredibly fun save 5.

I'm playing a bit, the area I'm currently in was heavily populated but seems pretty deserted now. Found a cabin with a cellar and built a palisade - located decent clay/water/soil nodes nearby but have yet to begin mining. Crops/skills are about QL20.

Lots of old ruins, unclaimed timber homes and abandoned villages in the general area. I've seen a few stragglers wandering around but have yet to see anyone that seemed overtly hostile - for now.

I definitely preferred 4's mining system, being able to mine caves made early game SO MUCH EASIER!  Of course you still had to go through the terror of mine-holes to get at the good ore, so it gave you something nice to work to while keeping the early game from being a living hell... like it is now.

Wait, you mean the thing I suggested? That wasn't nearly usable. It's just a few mixed perlin noises and a 3x3 matrix of possible terrain types.

It was more like a suggestion for a possible world generation approach.

The world would still need some cliffs, ore spots... all kinds of things.

I do not understand the w5 hate. I played in w3 and w5, they had the same problems to me. Once all the work of setup was done there were only chores. Then everyone got bored. At least with w5 you could gain LP while gathering sticks for your cooks.

I also don't understand people complaining about the lack of access to content. Our little town of misfits had almost every item.
