I have no idea if they do, and they probably don't, but I'm not the kind to test the system.

I go to a medium sized university deep in Christian Country (there is a ratio of 242.42 people for every church, and that is counting both the full student population and the entire population of the town), and I have surfed Danbooru and other similar sites ( for wallpapers and non-pornographic fan art, I Pinkie Pie swear!  :P ), and I have never had any problems. Hell, half the stuff I randomly get linked to or read has content that is questionable at best, and I don't worry about it. Just make sure you don't look at anything suspect around people whose respect you want, and you'll be fine.

And if your uni is actually monitoring what all of their students are doing online, that is really fucking creepy.

On a related note of creepy, someone should write a fic with a pony counterpart of Imperial China, and call all of the eunuchs geldings.  :P

At my uni's library, all the computers have a warning saying no pornography allowed. All of them. It's a really big sticker they put on every single one.

Sometimes I wonder if they're being paranoid or if it's really a problem they keep having.

(I seriously doubt they check people who use the wireless, though. They could probably trace it if they have suspicions, but no random searches of what people are looking at or whatever)

Oh right, ponies. Um, they're awesome.

Yeah, I tend to avoid iffy stuff on library computers and the campus wireless, but as for the hardlined connection in my dorm room, whatever.

Speaking of ponies, I've got Chapter two up, and since I'm sick on a long weekend I don't have anything to do but write (and play CounterStrike. And post ponies). Make sure to tell me how bad my writing is, too!  ;D

Personally I see Blueblood as an unintentional deconstruction of the commoner/prince cliche.

Why?

Reverse the genders and watch that episode again. Blueblood does absolutely nothing that wouldn't be completely acceptable if he were a princess being courted. But if he's a guy, suddenly all those excesses and expectations of his become unreasonable. I suspect that's not what the author intended. But it's difficult for me to dislike Blueblood for expecting exactly the same things the intended "girl who wants a prince" audience wants.

Then why can't he get a sex change from his auntie or whoever? Surely a pony who wants to be the opposite gender has existed before, I don't think it;s unreasonable to presume they've developed some kind of gender swap spell.

He doesn't, he's just acting like the stereotypical princess.

Yeah I'm pretty sympathetic to Blueblood since he's pretty much a Rarity genderswap with a dash of condescension (common carnival fare!). They act pretty much identical; Rarity just took what she normally dishes out.

I'm on the campus wireless (when I'm there), it's a community college (Spartanburg Community College, to be specific) and there's no dorms.

Also, the story looks good. How old is Evening Blaze, though? She doesn't seem very young considering her level of thought and intelligence, maybe a early teenager. I have no idea if that's what you were going for, so I figured I'd let you know.

Yep. It is kind of annoying to see this sort of stuff from a show that is normally great about promoting individuality and equality. Yes, it is funny, but it really creates quite a bit of a double standard.

Perhaps the entire point of Blueblood was actually to expose the double standard? Admittedly, it's really subtle, but we figured it out.

I was going for the angle that she is about the same age as the CMC, or possibly a bit older, but given the fact that she is living in a much less forgiving world, she (and other colts and fillies) are taught much more practical things, and contribute at an earlier age. Plus, there is the fact that *spoilers :p* use of fire is actually her special talent, but I think I mentioned before that I'm saving her cutie mark for something really special. Basically, she is old enough by the standards of her family and village to be semiresponsible for herself, including basic knowledge of how to survive, while still young enough emotionally to be severely traumatized by what happened to her family. Think about how children in preindustrial civilizations were working alongside their parents and siblings at young ages, and were often considered to be adults by the time they reached puberty.

As for her thoughts, she has been educated, and in social circumstances like that people tend to mature more quickly, but I tried to also give the impression that she was trying to calm herself by going through the motions and attempting to act like an adult, which is why she completely breaks down once she has solved the immediate problems. I might go back through and make her thoughts a little less coherent, though.

She doesn't seem to break down all that much, actually. Someone that age wouldn't have had the resolve to not curl up into fetal position after remembering such an event (hell, someone at any age) without having already been fairly desensitized to death. Or someone lacking in empathy in the first place, like a sociopath. I could see her thoughts being fairly coherent during survival mode, although her little side thoughts probably would have not been thought until she wasn't worried about the fire.

Thanks for the feedback; this is why I'm trying to get as much edited as possible before I submit what I have to ED.  :)

Also, is it just me or does someone need to make a PMV for Luna using nothing but a bunch of David Bowie from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust? Because that sounds amazing right about now.

I've seen enough The Lion King-referencing content that I'm surprised they haven't done a "The Pony King" video yet.
