May I ask why, instead of ponies, every other page on this thread is about deep stuff like the meaning of Sturgeon's Law and dissecting our social norms? I thought this was the pony thread. Not that I mind
If you want my opinion, write all the filly clopfics you want, internet. There are people who like that kind of thing; I am not one of them, but that kind of stuff is very private, and whether or not you enjoy that kind of thing has no bearing on how I interact with you. Like you said, FunctionZero, these are fictional characters. Stay away from the stuff you don't like, read the stuff you do. Filly clopfiction becomes a problem when it  becomes real-life child pornography, because then a child has to actually be involved. That isn't the case with some guy writing some fiction, so have at it.

But anyway, I do feel the need to mention that I got a warning for talking about this sort of stuff a few pages back. Don't agree with the rules, but whatever. Careful, lest all ye receive a warning as well. Move back to normal ponies.

It's an image I don't like, but I prolly wouldn't have mentioned it if it were just that. Mostly it's the prior warning and I somehow doubt clopfics have the intellectual merit to overcome the rules against discussing sexual material. I should've just said that instead of bringing up my own reaction.

I dont think most are really equating it like that, like 50/50. I'd think that people feel it being linked to child pornografy in a way. I'm sorry I cant really find words to describe what I'm trying to say here...

Because My Little Pony, through the child-friendly lessons of the show combined with the rampant insanity of the internet that has welcomed it warmly into its conscious has created a philosophical (dare I say, filly-sophical?) mess that many people are trying to mentally sort through, and are attempting to do so by general discussion?

On a different note, here's a clean idea for a fanfiction, or possibly a series of fanfictions (BTW, I probably won't use this idea myself, so feel free to steal it):

A fanfiction set in an evil alternate universe, where Nightmare Moon is in charge, and Twilight Sparkle writes reports to her on why it is better to be feared than loved.

I personally liked my idea that I had from when I did my first impression posts. The one where I assumed their world was like ours so if one side was made eternally dark the other would be eternally in light and I asked if that would mean Celestia was on the other side of the world causing trouble by not lowering the sun. It would make for an interesting kind of alternate universe feel if done right without actually being an alternate universe. It could also be used to explain where Luna was all the rest of season 1. She was on the other side of the planet benignly ruling the ponies there.

Eh, I figure Nightmare Moon wants to be loved too, but that is my opinion of it.  Else it'll probably seem like a super villain parody, starring Special Agent Sparkle and comrades putting down dissent and goodwill among the pony folk.

There are so many different ways to go about making an AU where Nightmare Moon/Luna is in charge though...

Spike looks pretty young in that picture there, not like an old dragon about to croak.  Wouldn't Rarity and Applejack's line technically go down with Sweetie Bell and Applebloom, if they went and reproduced?

RE: The filly/foal clopfic thing, I find that sort of thing a touch disturbing. It edges too close to CP for my taste.
