Set almost everything to 42/420/4200, and it worked. For FORTRESS MODE.

Other than mountains juting through the glaciers, seems pretty normal. Found a nice volcano + stream embark.

Now the next step is to start entering worldgen parameters using the digits of pi, e and other irrational constants.

I'm stuck at work for another four hours, so if someone could do the honors. If the world blinks out of existence, at least I will know why.

Once again, I manage to choose a spot with no goblin or human contact. Silly me~

I'll try the pi fortress out, and see if I can keep everyone alive this time.

Do we know what world 12 looks like? That is, all seeds are a bunch of 0's with 12 stapled onto the end.

Isn't that the kind of simulation the dude from Jurassic Park said wouldn't work?
Jeff Goldblum is a filthy elf who blathers on about how advanced universe simulation is impossible then turns around and disables an alien mothership with a virus he cooked up in windows 98... I'm not sure where I was going with that. Oh, and every character Jeff Goldblum has ever played is the same guy with a really exciting life.

Besides, everyone knows earth's world-gen seeds are:
282476647289117
382904384673286
267382973627829
326789596374897
The numbers in the design world settings don't go that high because Toady doesn't want DF to go crazy and become self-aware until it's powerful enough to take over.

wait, what happens if I put those numbers into the seed?

Do it, then uncompress the world's save and have a look in the world.dat. Modify it to give you me lots of money, then we'll go from there.

Centration. Similar to Spacestation 13, but in 3D and first-person. Sounds damn awesome.

Oruksmata, The Infinite Realm. Niiiiiiice.

Doing a bit better than my 42 fortress, no mountains jutting through the glaciers this time, and only eleven rejects so far (can't seem to figure out where to place the last few lakes. I'll update this when it's done.

EDIT: Twelfth try is the charm, hooray! Surveying the glaciers right now, seems normal, except for a few islands here and there (the Problamatic Hills, of course). There's a brown and red ocean (The Ocean of Messes), and the landmasses themselves are called "The Friendly Continents". That seems to have driven the Goblins away, though. Humans, Elves, and Dwarves are alive.

EDIT2: Found a nice multibiome map with a river and volcano, but no human or elf contact. Again. I think I'll do without the cloth the Elves graciously provide. I'll test out some of the other seeds, and then use this one.

I'd like to point out that in some spots, mountains -should- jut through glaciers. They're called nunataks, or 'lonely peaks.' I'd actually really love to see some more earth-like glaciers... Fjords and stuff. The glaciers I've seen thus far have been more like icecaps, always in frozen wastes and whatnot.

I don't think theses peaks were very lonely; they sure seemed to have lots of friends.

Isn't the worldgen number 42?

That makes an eerie sort of sense, actually.

Yeah, but it only works when your computers are capable of working in base 13.

Also, this entire thread reminds me of this.

I tried putting all the parameters of a worldgen to 42 the result was a crash after exactly 42 000 rejects... should I be worried?

I used some 420s and 4200s to keep things more consistent, and it actually worked.

Now run worldgen until the year 2012 and play through until you hit Moonstone 21st.

This could take a while.
