Not surprised really....seems that the influence of Toady and DF is far reaching and well loved...there are references all over (WOW, LoTRO, Starcraft 2, etc)...or maybe we just have a case of connecting dots that don't exist >.> (doubt that's the case)

Where? Must show to casual gamer friends!!!

I know more than I should about Tolkien mythology.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

The Armory guy (Swann) looks like a dwarf and the (star?)bay is bay 12

Not to mention that Blizzard employees already play DF, as shown in WoW.

Also, the item is apparently a component of a couple scrolls... all of which are "Master (insert name of useless DF profession here)'s scroll"s.

The WoW one was a pretty obvious reference, but a lot of this stuff is stretching almost as much as when people find a "DF ripoff" game.

Interesting fact: Hobbits was meant to be 'hobo', and small was 'smelly'.

Everything in the world is a possible DF reference.
The world itself is a DF reference.

Real world is a parody of DF
