Have a quick question (have already searched wiki)
« on: December 20, 2010, 12:18:21 am »

Hello everyone, I got into DF just a short while ago and must say its an exellent game. I had a quick question however. and I might have just overlooked it, but is a mortal wound always fatal?  The reason for asking is that this is the first adventurer That i absolutely love, Being way successful and I got caught out at night and hit by a few night creature's/bogeymen, I am alive and still running however, and a Frndly town is near me.

The question is, is it possable to survive, even with the mortal wounds that I have received..or is this character doomed right now..because if it is, i'll stop running and at least have it go out in style.

Mortal wounds are when 1 or both lungs, the heart, the spine, or the brain are bruised or greater, I think. Also, if you lost the ability to grasp/stand, that's a mortal wound too. It really just depends on where you got hit.

Exactly what he said. Any bruising of vital organs is almost always the cause of a mortal wound when you've still got all your parts attached.

Walk it off (sleep is best).

In adventure mode I killed a Hydra within fifteen minutes, and then was mortally wounded by Carp while swimming in a river.

About mortal wounds, I've never died to a bruised heart or lungs.  Is it even possible to die from those, and if not, why is it called a mortal wound?

Because it will eventually kill you if you don't fast travel or sleep soon.

So...is he planning to fix the fast travel insta-heal anytime soon?  I'm guessing it'll happen once he has real medical care ready.

mortal wounds to a tough character are not always lethal. much of the time it's a bruised lung. which can be dangerous, but only because it'll slow you down if you are being attacked. fast travel it off, you'll probably be fine.
