A little easter egg?
« on: December 19, 2010, 11:21:52 pm »

Just found this today, if you view a baby's profile on the day s/he is born, it shows this as the age:

Obviously, at the rate a fairly new embark goes you may have a split second to pause the game to view the profile. Just thought i'd share this with you guys.

Don't dwarven births autopause the game by default?

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

They do, but going at 100 FPS, days pass extremely quickly.

I play at 60fps from 7 dwarfs, to 150.  60 fps and 60 gfps; that way it looks fluid :D

Is it possible to play at 1000 FPS? Atleast 500 right?

If you had a supercomputer.
liquid nitrogen-cooled running nothing in the background, you might get FPS that good

Supercomputers almost always rely on numbers of cores, not processing power.

So even a supercomputer isn't doing anything special there.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

And memory bandwidth. Although, with the amount of data DF uses, you might get a speedup there.

The point of the exercise would be to get a core that can be over clocked to an large scale, then embark on a freezing biome, so to speek. Basicly run it over capacity and freeze that S.O.B.

I know this is going way way off topic, but it makes me think of something I've been wondering for a while, namely this:

Lame image hosting service...

When I need to pass time until something happens I run the game at 0 fps, does anyone know why it displays like this?

Another good easter egg is typing "Elec" into the manager. I don't know if it works anymore.

What's it supposed to do? On my 31.18 it just gives me a list of electrum-related jobs.

I believe it used to insult you and pretty much say 'This isn't D&D'. It may have been a different input than 'Elec'.
