I'm around but barely, because I'm headed home for Christmas. I'll be trying to get back in once things are settled here, so I won't ask for a replacement just yet, but this is a heads-up. I think most of you are in my other games so I'll just leave this here.

Unvote.

Policy lynches on millers in a closed setup?  Maybe.

Policy lynches on millers in an open setup where we know there's almost always at least one of them?  No.

Frankly, I don't think it's that likely scum would claim kook day one.  You draw a lot of attention, and possibly risk being hit by an inspection that kook doesn't cover.  Overall, it just doesn't seem worth it.

With that in mind... Argembarger.  Why are you attempting to perform a policy lynch based on this?  After all, policy lynches are the easiest and most risk free for the scum.  The eye of truth is on you.

And Now, a Public Service Announcment:
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, and the carolers are spiteful. But if their threats won't suffice: Hastur once, Hastur twice, Hastur thrice!
They're showing no signs of stopping, People's heads they are a-lopping. Their chanting is not too nice: Hastur once, Hastur twice, Hastur thrice!
When they finally end their song, How you'll hate seeing what will come next! You'll see the angles are all wrong, And your mind will be most vexed!
People are slowly dying, There's no time for the good-bying. For such frights just take this advice: Hastur once, Hastur twice, Hastur thrice!

a) He posted an idiotic random vote, and then nothing else other than this kook business.
b) He was asked his alignment, and he didn't respond, waffled, deflected, and didn't actually claim it until his penultimate post.
c) "Kook" isn't his alignment. If he's a townie kook, then his alignment is "town". I say he knows enough to see the difference, but plays dumb well enough to get away with it.
d) His last post is clearly disingenuous. "Modwrath"? "a hidden clause about claiming"? Please. Even he doesn't buy that. "It's a good thing to do" Oh, how townie of you. "I claimed my role" no you didn't, you claimed kook, but nothing else. Enough waffling, wine and half-truths there to fill a pigsty.
e) Otherwise, utterly useless, just as much as Org or Jokerman.

f)MBP is not new. He has been playing here longer than I have. He almost won BYOR4 back in September or thereabouts, yes? That was my first (non-BM) game here. He was acting lurky, evasive, noobish and so on there too, and he was scum (arsonist). He may not be too smart or incisive, but he's not noober than I am, he just plays that card well, but it'd be dangerous of us to buy the act. But meta-wise, he's not a good liar. If he must conceal something he's more prone to lurk, deflect or ignore than outright lie until pressed; like he knows that if he lies he'll be called on it. That is exactly what his behaviour here has been; he didn't actually claim kook until five posts into the waffling "am I? Should I say? would you believe me?" act.

Ok, i'm terrible with quotes, sorry about that

a)Fair enough, that's really what happened. As I explained , this being a bastard mod I was somewhat stressed about claiming. Again, i repeat, this is a bastard mod. Anything goes, that's why i turned around the pot so long, to see if id get soem feedback from the mod about claiming, received none, so i felt safe enough to claim. After the RVs from first post, the 2nd said basically that i was a Kook( the reference to Jim, last paranormal).
b) See a). Like those game, and id rather not get booted of it during christmas time ( when i can actually play it)
c) I claimed Kook since in my mind Kook is a Townie that get a Scum when investigated. So basically a townperson who appear scum.
d) Heh, i did actually believe that. it's a bastard mafia after all, Part of the charm.
e) True enough, got pretty much nothing in the hunting department right now, i'll work on changing that.
f) Hehe, that was mean, and that still gave me a bit too much credit. BYOR4 was also my first game, and i did not play many since then. Frankly, i'm poor at scumhunting since i'm more accustomed to play this game around a table, and use body language to find the scum. Internet is much more about information, and i have trouble keeping up with it.

And you are right, i'm not a good liar. Still, i don't see my playstyle like the one in BYOR4. Back then it was mosly shallow promise of content then lurking, etc, like you described. My behavior is not one of lurking and shuuffling around. I claimed, stand by it. I shambled about at first due to apparently irrational fear of a bastard modkill. Check it back if you want.

Now, for the hunting part. Right now, no obvscum (obviously) or that little part would not exist.

Argem. You got any reason other than my claim for your insistent voting ?
Also, how could a dopp benefit from claiming Kook as a first gesture? Don't you think the attention would defeat the whole purpose ?
Also Also, on your karkat response to Toony, why are you apparently so certain my claim is a false one ?

Zath: With the few content we got to work with right now, how is lynching me more than a simple policy lynch ? If you are still unconvinced about the reaosn why i kept turning around my claim at first, what is the difference between me and Org ?

Will answer any question asked, of course.

I know the day's been extended already but it's going to end on Christmas Eve. I think a weekend for everybody to do their holiday business would be helpful.

Extend.

Anyway, alright, cool, I'm glad you actually have reasons to vote Jim aside from OMGUS. But the thing that actually makes me happy is that you are questioning others instead of one-track defending yourself. Thank you. Unvote.

Hold on hold on hold on hold on.

It doesn't bug you at all that all of Dariush's reasons for voting me are complete and utter shit?

*sniff* *sniff*

Smells like there's some coaching going on here. I extremely dislike that his completely unsatisfactory post was somehow satisfactory enough to you, why, even on points that you 'suspected' him for.

Is there something I should know about you, Argembarger?

Hm. One at a time then, I guess.

Unvote.

1. Why would it make a difference if the setup was open or closed?

2. Oh, I see, so all I would have to do as a dopp is claim Kook immediately and everyone will buy it? That's pretty good to know. See, the problem is that arguing against the WIFOM of the move brings in even more WIFOM.

3. Did you read the post in which I voted MBP? I wasn't voting for the kook claim, I was voting for the circumstances behind it, AKA the motivation for claiming it, and the method in which it was claimed. Kook claim itself is a null tell.
Quote from: myself
I say you are among my top scumpicks because, instead of just saying Town, which would have been a true fact for your alignment as a Kook, you went all shy and coy with it and roleclaimed without a good reason. Personally, I find preemptive defenses and claims to be scummy.

You mean, besides the points that Zath brought up? No. Do I have reasons to vote anyone else? Well I'm actually highly tempted to switch my vote to Toonyman for the most perfect storm of uselessness I've ever seen in a Mafia game. I mean, there's no way more than, say, 4 of his 28 posts had any valuable content at all.

Again, it could easily be the WIFOM of it. It could be a gambit. Saying that claiming early means you aren't Kook is equivalent to saying that scum is inherently polite and honest.

I'm not certain your claim is a false one at all! I'm saying I have no clue one way or the other, I'm saying I don't like the question lingering there in my mind, and I'm saying that Toonyman must either be completely bonkers for taking your word at face value, or has special information about you that everyone else doesn't have.

Argembarger:  Since my request for more reasoning behind your vote got a picture of a troll and a scene from Scanners, I thank you for confirming that you're scum.

I don't believe the utter tripe that keeps spewing from Org and Toony's mouths is something that should be ignored, personally. But alright.

I'm pretty sure I've given you all the reasoning I have to give, already.

Kook claim can not be trusted, was unnecessary, was given with a bunch of strange behavior alongside, and is inherently stuffed with WIFOM. If that's really seen as unacceptable reasoning to vote on day 1, in a bastard mod, then I have no idea what to think about anything.

Is there something I should know about you, Argembarger?

Is this a question specific to me, or is it also applicable to the 8 players who never had a problem with Dariush to begin with?

Dariush is still in my top 3 picks. His reasons for voting you were mostly OMGUS. He's far too concerned with making himself look good. And on top of that, he's only had 5 posts this game, so he's clearly been lurky.

I thought I'd reward him for trying to get information by easing the pressure off of him, but that is far different than saying I believe him to be town conclusively.

Also, Extend.

1) I've explained why I suspect Jim. Even though he changed his vote, I still see him as the most scummiest player.
2) From the first moments, I'm besieged by the most idiotic arguments ever. Should I just sit back and ignore them?
3) I respond whenever I have something to say or when I'm directly addressed. Also, about half of this game was spent arguing about whether MBP's claim can or can not be trusted. It was stated several times that that is a nulltell and those statements were ignored, so I didn't bother repeating what was said (and ignored) earlier.

Dude Argembarger, you think I'm bonkers for accepting MBP's kook claim?  There's no reason not to, unless you have some valid evidence to do so.  There's nothing I would do except move on with the game and keep his claim in the back of your mind.  As for posts, it's crazy how fast these build up, but when you have a variety of people asking you to explain yourself at every twist and turn...

Notice:
Do you believe his kook claim?
Why yes I do.

There's a huge difference between accepting his claim and believing it.

You said you believed it. Just, outright. Like as in, to you, MBP is definitely a kook and there is no chance he is lying. And that's kind of bonkers.

Did you misunderstand the question? Or do you actually know him to be telling the truth? If that's the case, please explain.

If this is a statement regarding all the posts of nothingness that I pointed out from you, then I must also point out this.

The majority of the questions asked of you were a direct result of your nothing-posts.
