Thanks for this tool!  Would it be possible to output everything (or almost everything) to HTML pages and images?  This might limit some of the features but I think it would be nice to have.

   at LegendsViewer.Legends.SitesAndPopulationsParser.Parse()
   at LegendsViewer.Legends.World..ctor(String xmlFile, String historyFile, String sitesAndPopulationsFile, String mapFile)
   at LegendsViewer.FileLoader.load_DoWork(Object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e)
   at System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker.WorkerThreadStart(Object argument)

Doesn't matter how many world I create or how many times I try to export the files, the error always pops up.


As an FYI, I have the same problem as Boogey. I just get the above error when trying to load the exported world files. Not sure why; have .NET 4 etc. Used to work on this machine but now just can't open anything. I'll keep investigating if there's some local issue for me, and not something wrong with the Viewer itself.

EDIT: So, I regenned a world, exported the map info from the ending world gen screen, then did the XML dump in the Legends mode inside DF, and that seemed to behave better in the Viewer. Not sure if it's significant or not; previously I was just dumping info (XML, map picture and map info) out of Legends mode after the fact.

Last updated Dec 2014. That's right towards the end of the last release cycle. How much more up to date do you need? (42.x version sure, but that's only been out a week, no other utilities are that far up to date yet).

Seems to work pretty well in 42.x anyhow.

its missing ALOT of data/ has a lot of errors but you can view a good amount of the info.

Yeah, I find myself using Legends Viewer, World Viewer and DF Legends mode all at the same time when I'm trying to get to grips with a new world and its many stories.

I'd also love to see an update to Legends Viewer.  I find this tool invaluable to wrap my head around a new world-gen.  With v42 out, imagine how much sweeter viewer would be with festivals, poetry/musical forms, travelling troupes, books, libraries, taverns, temples, scholars/apprentices..

I'd be happy to volunteer some time to help with an update.

I looked into your issue and the problem is that your regionX-XXXXX-XX-XX-world_sites_and_pops.txt file is missing the whole Civilized World Population section and starts immediatly with the Sites section.
Not sure why you get that file in a corrupted state.

Everybody with the same issue can add

Sadly no.
The XML dump doesn't even provide a lot of basic stuff like the titles of art forms or written contents or the names of various occasions.
