Toughness=Invincible?
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:00:57 pm »

On my most recent adventurer, I put all my attribute points into toughness. The result? I survived multiple encounters with the bogeymen, three mortal wounds, and  having two Kobolds beat on me while I was asleep. (I didn't kill a thing, though. Each bogeyman fight lasted until the sun came up, and the Kobolds were killed by my companion.) I may use this build forever.

Also, after my first fight (against the bogeymen) every body part on my status screen was red, blue, or gray. (And mostly the latter two.)

Even better, Max toughness, then get recovery speed and agility as high as possible. You dodge attacks more, you can take what happens to you, and you heal from the ones that hit you.

Maxing toughness uses up all your other points...

And dodging? Not once did I land a single blow on those bogeymen. They must have maxed agility.

... Max agility... The perfect counter-build!

Really? When I max a stat I usually have some left over for other stats.

Weird. Maybe it varies between races? I was playing as a human. (Because they have shops.)

What do those do? (But yes, I left it as hero.)

Demigod just gives more points, no more no less.

So it's like... a difficulty setting?

Eh, not really. Difficulty settings change how tough the enemy is. This just changes how tough you start out as.

it doesnt really affect how hard the game is, it just affects your first few game days, whether you want to start as a peasant and train up on rocks or small dogs before attacking the sentient creatures, or whether you want to skip that and jump right in to questing ogres and warbands and such

I'm also fairly certain it also affects your starting reputation as well, so you can recruit more followers, but not 100% sure. Of course, I know that's also affected by one social skill or another, can't remember which one.

But yeh, ghosteh is spot on.

It does not effect you reputation, in all three I'm always able to recruit 2 soldiers right away, no more no less.
