I think that PETA is misguided, but they think that they're actually helping animals.
While this does not make their actions any better, it lessens the blow, somewhat.

On a completely unrelated note, is there anyone else who suspects The Merchant of Menace of actually being Pathos? I don't seriously believe it, but it keeps popping into my head whenever I read one of her posts... :-\

That's the fifth time someone's made a post about me potentially being pathos.

I got accused of being pathos, too.

Why does this forum use Greek words?

When I searched it in the forum toolbar, it just seems to suggest that it is some kind of transcendental robobot.

Pathos: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathos

Usually it is an appeal to sadder feelings, usually from abandonment, defeat, vestigial empires, things that are shadows of their former glory in general. Read The Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson, he uses it well.

... They mean Pathos the forum member (assuming you're not joking). Well ex-forum member, after they got banned because of using an alt account to get around a mute.

Anyway the old PETA thread wasn't that long ago, and I don't think anything has really happened since then. I think PETA made a vegetarian version of Super Meat Boy but that's pretty much it.

I can see why PeTA exists, and I agree that animals should be treated decently. However, they seem to think that all animals should have human rights, and that is insane. I can see chimps getting rights (they are the second smartest species on the planet (that we know of), after all), but livestock?!? WTF???

You know, I but I knoe Why TTT doesn't post on his own threads.
I mean, this discussion is pretty derailed, and this is nowhere near the most derailing we cando.

I mean, I could see now it culd be offputting to someone who wants to stay on the rails.

You generally get asked if you're Pathos around here if you post like it's the only thing from keeping you spontaneously combusting. Seriously, what will Triple T's hot topic of the day be next?! Who knows!
