Far more dangerous than the virus is the panic it's causing. I'm calling it now: the political turmoil caused by the outbreak will claim more lives than the virus itself will. Even if the government does everything right and contains the outbreak successfully, there will be discontent: people both inside and outside the country, and the media outside, will blame the government for the lives it failed to save.

I don't understand why people are being so overdramatic. China has dealt with FAR worse unrest for decades, and the precedent so far is that outbreaks, even disastrous ones like SARS, are not enough to push people over the edge.

I think what’s getting to me the lack of concrete information out there, and my anxiety immediately goes to the worst case scenario.
The pathology of the virus also lends to the formation of paranoia (2 week incubation time+asymptomatic carriers = potentially anyone can be infected)
