Had another bizarre nightmare where Octopus-like creatures were trying to jam their tentacles into the eyes, ears, and noses of sleeping people with the purpose of taking over their brains. It was very creepy especially as I was just standing at a couple's bedside watching it happen for like five minutes.

Don't worry. Don't sleep ever again and you shall be fine

Had a bit of a scare today when our pool heater spontaneously caught fire. It was my first experience with such a large, out of control fire. Fortunately, my dad and I were home and noticed it before it got too bad, and the fire department responded pretty quickly. The heater was in its own little shack far away from the house, and the fire was put out before it could spread. Still pretty scary how quickly it engulfed the building. By the time the firefighters arrived you could feel the heat from clear across the yard.

All told, we were pretty fortunate with how things played out. If no one had been home, or if the heater had been closer to the house, things could have been a lot worse. The pool seems to be cursed, though. Last year a tree fell in it, earlier this year the pipes were leaking and needed to be replaced, and now this.

Wow.

That gave me huge flashbacks to the olden days and the "hip" people with anti-drug and violence messages that would visit schools.
