I'm really curious as to why he'd do that. Also horrified. But definitely curious.

Because he's broken. If you're looking for a rational reason as to why somebody would do that, you're missing the point of why it's horrific.

Well duh, obviously it's not rational. That's why it's interesting.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

It could be rational. For instance, he could be practising to perfect what he sees as an art. Terrible, but also rational.

Well, strictly speaking that's rational, but you'd still have to be pretty loopy to think disembodied vaginas count as art. Which is more what I think Cheeeetar was getting at, rather than logical/illogical/whatever.

I already knew these were a thing. But I was creeped out by some of these nonetheless...
The thing is, because daguerrotypes take so long, in some photos it's kind of hard to tell who were the cadavers and who were the living people.

Well, its not like disembodied sexual organs as art is a new thing. I mean, tons of cultures just absolutely loved making statues of phalluses. I personaly love to make fun at my partly chinese friend due to the fact dong statues have been found in chinese princes' tombs :v

Then again I can't really talk shit when my ancestors worshipped this (somewhat NSFW, maybe).

Greece is a prime example. Phallic processions, anyone? They even had Hermae (statues of Hermes) often only a block of stone with Herme's face and phallus at street junctures.

In a similar vein, the banner of Pompei apparently featured a large winged penis.

It may also have been the place the traditional "heart shape" was invented, as brothel signs for the illiterate.

Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

Vaxxxers drink turpentine. Voluntarily. Like, as medicine.

Seems like it's mostly self-administered by adults, so it's not quite as terrifying as Miracle Minelar Supplement Industrial-strength bleach, but really fucking scary, nonetheless.

As stupid as a person who'd believe that vaccines cause autism despite all the scientific evidence disproving that.
