That seems to be the case from my (limited) reading on the disease. Medical treatment includes things like IV fluids, antibiotics, blood transfusions, all sorts of stuff that might not be so readily available in a rural third-world area. You can still die, but all this gives you a better chance of fighting the thing off.

What exactly is your position lord shonus? and an automated proccess being wrong 45% of the time seems unacceptable.

I match books to Amazon listings so they can be sold. The automated process involves a camera and a conveyer belt that reverse image searches each book to identify it. It gets the binding or title (especially with things such as Dummies books) wrong a huge percentage of the time, and cannot handle dust-jacketless books unless they have an image or text (which it surprisisngly gets right a lot) on the front cover. 45% error rate is probably generous, since I don't see what it sorts wrongly into recycle, just what it sends to shelving and is wrong.

It's called Winged Doom, or the Omsk Bird, or the Omsk Crow. It's sort of a personification of the depressive and bizarre atmosphere of the city of Omsk, which is considered to be the drughead capital of Russia on the Russian internets. To quote a Russian anon:

Omsk is a city where one walks on a pavement of syringes. Madmen in front, to the right and to the left. And plastic, breaking beneath your feet. Hysterical laughter echoing off the walls of grey boxes. Tears, drowning everything. A city where a smile is just a rictus with empty eyes and drool at the corners of the mouth.

It's overdramatic, but you get the general idea.
