I've been having tightness in my chest and some shortness of breath lately, so I went to the clinic on campus. I was worried I was worrying for nothing, but they felt I warranted an EKG, and I got a peak flow meter to take home. That was this afternoon. I won't know much of anything until my appointment next Thursday, but in the meantime I have exams to study for.

That's what I get for leaving my window open, I guess. Well played, sir.

Whichever end eats you first. Probably.

What is this, Imgur?

Anyway, my (mild) terror: taking my hearing aids out is always freaky. Now I can't even hear the loud whirring my laptop is making unless I lean in close to it. O.o

See, the thing with GCSE's is that if you have paid attention in class, worked hard over the course and revised decently, they are actually kind of easy, unlike things you will move on to. Of course, if you have done none of that, then there will be no fun had at all.

I know that they won't be terribly difficult, but it's not that. It's just that they're so close. It's weird and wrong and they should still be ages off but aren't.

...well, that was probably the single nastiest wreck I've seen in quite some time.

It involved a truck, of course. At first all I could see was the trailer, which was smashed all to hell and had scattered the cargo everywhere. Or at least, some of the stuff scattered around was cargo.
The truck itself could best be described as debris. The largest piece I could identify was the bottom frame which held the wheels and driveshaft. Everything else was so much fiberglass and metal.
Bad feels. Baaaad feels. Fuuuuck.

I've heard horror stories about Russian traffic in general and Russian trucks in particular :<

If it was in Russia, he'd crash, and a bunch of burly men with vodka bottles would come and beat the shit out of him for being an American pigdog before robbing him blind, splitting his belly with a rusty shank and putting the video on youtube to watch later with national pride.

I may or may not have incredibly stereotypical views of Russia.
FTFY.

It all stems from one simple fact that you do not need to be able to drive in order to get a license. Truckers, though, are almost all considerate and careful professionals - it's the yuppies on SUVs and illegal immigrants on vans you have to watch out for.

India has a similar issue, with the difference being that truckers are not considerate and careful professionals.

They's worse than the average driver, and almost never drive sober.

Listen, they're responsible for controlling an enormous chunk of metal flying across the road at incredibly dangerous speeds, often in areas where innocent people could be killed or maimed by even the slightest error.

That's a lot of stress! Gotta take the edge off, y'know?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
