That robot is so lifelike it does scare the shit out of me. Not in an I Robot way, but in more of an A.I. way. Like we'll be creating things with feelings and oppressing them because we don't know when to draw the line.

My only question is how is it better than the X number of tanks that could be produced with the same money?

Smaller, no crew. It can go into your house and taser you while you're mast... uh. Sleeping. And still leave a house to be auctioned off. Also, the cost will probably be smaller once they've got the base software created and the hardware tested and standardized. Plus, again, no crew. That's a big thing, I think. And inclement terrain you don't want the tank squishing (like, again, houses.).

Now, why not drone tanks, well...

Because tanks have problems climbing stairs inside buildings. Also tanks have problems with buildings, say if you want to get somebody inside and still have the building around to capture.

I mean rubble is nice and all but it's not all that useful from protecting you against the wrath of the civilians whose house you blew into tiny pieces along with their captive children.

A. Cheaper than a tank.
B. Not meant to be a combat vehicle. The idea is that the BigDog acts like a pack mule in rough terrain, carrying extra supplies, ammo, etc.

So here I was, trying to sleep, when i feel something crawling on my ear. I reach up and find a bug or something crawling on me, so I pick it off and turn on a light. It was an earwig.

So much for sleeping.

I had a centipede drop down next to me while I was in the shower this morning. Another foot to the right and 20 seconds later and it would have landed right on top of my head while I had my eyes closed to rinse the shampoo out. All in all a very fast way to move me from "sleepy" to "utterly and absolutely awake".

In other news, I was driving, and had to sneeze. I have never been in such terror as that moment, knowing I had to close my eyes within the next few seconds, desperately slowing down and trying to keep steady as that tickle built, only for the gut-wrenching moment to never arrive, leaving me both annoyed and slightly embarrassed.
I hate it when sneezes tease you.
