Uhhh

Is anyone surprised by this enough to care?

I have to admit I find it hard to even muster more then a "North Korea pulls off this kind of crud all the time"

I don't think they've ever gone this far before.

This is scary but then, with North Korea, everything is.

According to the link I posted some academic type reckons this is intended to strengthen negotiations of some kind.
I think Kim Jong-iil plays DF.

Kim Jong-iil does negotiations at the edge of a sword so to speak

No honestly he pulls this kind of stuff all the time.

Most previous conflicts, such as the SK Warship being destroyed, were usually handwaved because NK denied it up and down. (In that particular instance, they said the ship crossed into their waters and hit a mine.)

It's been confirmed now however that they're deliberately firing at each other and troops are being scrambled.

It is a big deal. It could be huge.

I really, really hope it isn't.

Ohh don't be mistaken I appreciate it.

I am more or less saying, in my own way, that North Korea keeps pulling this stuff off with some sort of regularity and it is a large problem. Except with an apathetic overtone.

Well, the world longest cease fire, has just been broken then.

This is partially worrisome to me in America. Though I'm more worried about US troops either being asked or going in any way to intervene on SK behalf again.

While Best Korea loves to stir shit periodically (for reasons I can't begin to imagine aside from, perhaps, a juvenile plea for attention), AFAIK they don't normally fire on civilians.  I hope Supreme Leader is well aware that if another war starts, it won't end well for his regime.

I had heard it might be a desperation thing because NK is starving and in economic crisis.
