Do any of them no longer care about tragedy? You should let those live.

It's not a bad idea, to arrange a phenomenal sacrifice so that survivors don't care about anything anymore

 I just thought of something.

Back in 40d I had a dwarf who sustained minor brain injury. He lived but from that point fourth he was unable to gain new friends. He was unable to socialize at all... it's too bad that whenever something touches the brain now, the dwarf dies. it's like a big gray "off" button hidden in his head.

I am sure this will be changed, so when brain injuries work again - i suggest we put our heads together and try to find the most efficient dwarven lobotomyy.

You know ... for tantrum control. Not sadism.

I want to build a huge, successful fort, then kill my entire population when migrants arrive. Soldiers will drop all their stuff before entering the atomsmasher.

Hmm, the dwarven lobotomy, how to construct this to be most effective. The problem here is trying to find something that specicitalky targets the head.
Maybe the best method is to find a level of metal + the right sort of head gear so that a stone fall trap causes this type of injury.

And that's when an unexpected ambush stumbles on the harmless migrants. Reclaim time!
... no, wait, reclaiming isn't really a much worse alternative anyway. So... where's the flaw in that plan?

I wonder if our traps target things.  I mean, a stone-fall trap should drop stone onto something.  So it should land on Dwarf heads first...  perhaps if you recruit as many dwarves at once that you can, equip them in full armor EXCEPT for their head, and march them through a line of lever activated stone traps, they should get a bruised brain.  And if they don't, repeat.  And repeat.  And repeat.

The problem is that there is a chance that the stone fall trap could do a little too well and kill the very dwarf your trying to save from insanity. We need to test if it is worth strapping a leather cap to there head and making them march twice, rather then going hatless and killing off some of them.

I think I've seen goblins get slashed in the brain yet live, in 31.18.  Could be wrong

I spent awhile as a adventurer repeatedly shattering an orges head, each hit caused brain bruising but didn't kill it.
