Well, to wash all those blood pools we'd need a lot of soap and cloth! :D So weaver and soap maker would had a lot of work.

Waiting for some pics :D and save too

UPD. Hell, can't stop giggling while reading your report and watching avatar... :D

I just saw a guy with two broken legs push a minecart with a corpse in it. Yeah.

There's nothing interesting happening at the moment that's worth screenshoting (except loads and loads of corpses, obviously). I have two more months to go, so a save will be posted about half an hour from now.

Early Opal:
Today I stumbled upon a half done magma trap (obviously, covered in corpses) that seemed pretty efficient. The only problem was that it lacked magma and pumps. A quick inspection granted me the insight into it's design (which I'll put under the letter N, whatever that means), so I ordered a dig to the caverns in search of garnierite for pipes.

Ahem. I meant that there was no magma in the trap. Also, contrary to the popular belief, a volcano in itself isn't interesting unless it's being used in some horrifying contraption.

Continuation of journal:
The cavern was finally discovered 28 levels below out fortress (whatever that means), and I ordered a farmer's workshop constructed for Kib, our milker, to get some cheese.

Did you set civilian alert to inactive? They mean they can't get their bags for sand

Yeah, it's inactive. Well, anyway, I'm tired of IC so OOC from now on:
Milk gathering failed due to lack of buckets. Buckets creation failed due to lack of logs. Logs harvesting failed due to having to get either into the caverns or out of safe fortress. I guess I'll choose the first option...
Suddenly, a stark raving mad siege engineer showed up in magma trap room. I guess not everyone died then...
Oh well, it's spring already. Hotkeys: F1 - entrance, F2 - depot, F3 - caverns, F4 - magma trap.
Magma trap is on three levels. The bottom level is initially filled with magma, the middle level - with floor grates (that's where enemies are supposed to go). In normal state the magma is on the top floor and the pumps on the sides (there's channels made for correct orientation) are constantly pumping. When enemies are near, the bridges are retracted and the magma falls on the middle floor, filtering through grates into the lowest one where it is sucked up on the top again indefinitely until the bridges are closed.
Save here.

I liked your IC reaction on arriving.  I guess things went downhill after I left  :P

But honestly, I'm just lucky no ambushes arrived during my term.  All I really did was manage the food supply a little, acquire some bags, and build a miniproject with copper and dwarf blood.  I mean glass.

The scaffolds along the copper "supports" are made of wood, if you want to tear them down for bucket materials.

Wait, no wood?  Ghosts?  Low booze stocks?  Magma trap that I will most certainly cause a disaster when I activate.

Yes.  I'm in.

So, my god was the god of night and darkeness, but that dorf is dead.

Right now I'm serving the god of trying to make a basic amount of sense of a fortress whose design I can only describe as aggressively crazy.

I can't make head or tail of this place, so I'm starting over.  I dug down a bit and I'm starting a new fortress.
