No it is not too late Urist. Sorry to hear that Dariush, perhaps if everyone dies in some catastrophic Dwarfy event then the FPS will go up. I guess I will PM the next person then.

You can go before me. I still have a week of classes, then finals, before I could reliably play DF for any length of time.

Wait do you mean it's out of control? Brilliant! Right what we need for gigantic magma pumpstack in glacier  :D

Well, no, not totally out of control.. It can be shut down by pulling a lever. Another lever connects the power to the pump stack. And then there are three levers for controlling magma flow ;) I bet future leaders will add many levers to the system.

I started the thing maybe three times and every time when the water wheels started generating power and water started splashing everywhere, the pump operators ended up in the cistern under the pumps. Then the whole cistern is sucked almost empty and they can walk out using a maintenance door.

Let me demonstrate (run the movie at rate 200): http://mkv25.net/dfma/movie-2293-armordeathswaterreactor

Another way to start it is to have less water in the cistern and then fill it from cavern lake with those two manually operated pumps. The reactor intake hatches have to be open of course. Sometimes that generates enough flow for the water wheels to start moving, but not always. This method is safe for pump operators, but it's not The Dwarven Way to do it.

Some machines are just scary... you have to show them some respect, or they will mangle and kill you.

Go to your DF folder. Go to Data/Saves/RegionWhatever

Compress that using a program such as winrar or 7zip.

Upload that to a file hosting site (such as dffd).

Link to download page of that site.

Hey is this dead?
I've just recently spotted a flaw in the Reactor, you see when the hatches are opened operators that are starting this beast don't have any way out. So looks like we should make easy exit from cistern for them, stairs going two levels up from that level probably, so they could handle that by themselves.
I could take a microturn and designate that myself but I'm not in the mood for getting full year right now.

Yeah I noticed that when I was starting it up.. As water starts flowing the operators are thrown into the cistern anyway, so they have a way out through the maintenance door. If someone manages to fix the overflowing problem, then stairs would be a nice addition.
