Looks like what brings down Boris Johnson is not two standards advisors quitting because they won’t take his advice, it’s not his inability to answer how he funded the renovation of his flat for months, it’s not graft, corruption, ministers bullying their staff to the point they quit and sue the government, nor is it when he gets fined for being incapable of following the rules he and his government came up with for Covid.
Nah, he appointed a sex pest as deputy chief whip, and a week after he groped two men (a week later!) two of his ministers quit, one of whom was also fined for attending a party during Covid lockdowns.
The other one even has the cheek to say the public expect the government to be run sensibly, despite all of the above happening over the last couple of years and more that I can’t recall off the top of my head.
Elections happening now would be very fucking interesting given the Scottish First Minister has said that, if they can’t have another legal independence referendum next year, they’d campaign the next UK election on the single issue of independence and consider it a de facto referendum.
Edit: I tell a lie. The guy who got fined said the public should expect the government to be conducted properly. One might suggest following the rules you put in place woukd be a good start, but what do I know.
Edit 2: there’s also the small matter of the leader of the opposition and their deputy being investigated for breaching Covid times too, and has said he’d resign if found to have breached them, not sure if that’s been sorted yet.
