Group things by physical ability and mental discipline and every match will be super close!
Sure, the result will be largely arbitrary, but it's not like that matters for entertainment value.

There was a controversy some time back, about trans-women being better at sports than cis-women, because of their testosterone level.
Why don't they just group the sports by testosterone level then, instead of by gender?
Loadsa options

1. Compete by sex
2. Compete by gender
3. Add a third trans sport category
4. Compete by weight, mixed genders

Competition by testosterone level fails to satisfy female athletes' complaints that simply going on testosterone blockers for the current standard 12 months, or even a period of many years does not mitigate the morphological advantages gained by a body developed with testosterone. This is especially true for all the sports categories where specific skeletal structure & limb lengths offer decisive advantage, like in track or a lot of contact sports - it's the reason why sports competitions are gendered in the first place. It's also pretty much a weird oxymoron that in the attempt by sports regulatory bodies to include trans-women in sports, they've ended up placing themselves into a trap where they can't escape without stepping on someone's toes with a concrete boot. Immovable object meet unstoppable force; integrity of women's athletic accomplishment meet contemporary gender deconstruction ting

New cyborg legs? Cool, let me get in on that.
While certainly a fun daydream, one of the issues with this (aside from the technology really not being there yet, but competition would theoretically help move development along) is that it would penalize less-developed countries even more than they already are.

Sure, you may have trained all your life for this moment, but the Japanese competitor is backed by some of the most advanced tech in the world along with a government and commercial sector that actually have the funding to spend on said tech, so you might as well just not have shown up. This is already an issue with "all-human" competitions now, as richer countries get access to better coaches, equipment, security, and not least of all nutrition.

If it's already a problem, it may as well be a radical problem. Cyberpunk is cool, dontchaknow.

Better doping, too.

Frankly, I say we just embrace it, particularly at the Olympic level. Let everyone get doped to hell and back. Let them use whatever other drugs and implants they want, too. Let the Russians enter actual bears in the boxing events. Let the Americans compete in the shooting events with drone strikes and launch their runners out of railguns. Make every sport a contact sport and award medals only to the survivors. Allow everything, subtitle the Olympics "People From Richer Countries Are Physically Superior To You And We Choose To Believe It Is Evidence Of Moral Superiority."

In other words, let's turn it into the most popular science fair/international pissing contest in history.

Soon we'll have the human equivalent of NASCAR stock human racing and F-1 enhanced human racing. Yes.

Legalized doping would also possibly mean there'd be a chance for some drugs to appear with not-quite-as-horrifying side effects of usage!

The side effects of doping are inseparably linked to the desired effects of doping, because in most cases they are a variant of the same effect. If performance enhancing drugs were embraced by sporting organization, the chances of them producing a genuinely useful pharmaceutical are below zero - you'd wind up with fewer useful drugs.

I'm watching Terry Crews play Dungeons and Dragons, with Matt Mercer DMing.

Edit: oh gosh, and apparently there's going to be PvP, with another party after the same objective? Dang, this is exciting stuff.

I saw that some weeks ago, it was pretty good!

To be fair,
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

New WTFs, both from this mor-- afternoon: apparently Free RPG Day is on this weekend and I was somehow unaware, and also one of the obscure games featured (most of the sessions I'd be most interested in are full) was written by John Wick.

Bieber challenged him to beatboxing but Cruise deliberately escalated it as a means to beat the hell out of the little creep.

Wow ..

Quote
Justin Bieber has challenged Tom Cruise to a UFC-style cage fight. The 25-year-old singer tweeted Cruise (56), on Sunday daring him to face him in the mixed martial arts sport's Octagon arena. The Canadian singer said Top Gun star Cruise would “never live it down” if he turned down the match

What a little turd. He's seriously someone the planet would be better off without.

However, given that Tom Cruise is known for doing his own stunts in action films he may well be able to thrash Bieber.

Cruise should ignore the challenge however. If Cruise beats up Bieber, he looks bad. If Cruise is beaten up by Bieber (less likely) he looks bad. Rather than "never living it down" for turning down the fight, Cruise would never live it down if he accepted the fight, regardless of the outcome. Bieber is just that much of a fucking imbecile that he doesn't get that.

How on earth would he look bad for beating up Bieber?? ???
That's the sort of heroic act that might actually make up for being a member of one of the lamest cults on the planet.

He would be degrading himself by taking part in Bieber's stupid macho contest.
