I can afford a 19" full HD display tablet (that's a WTF in itself - it's a UGEE, which is a lot cheaper than Wacom, but two of my friends use them and recommend them), which Amazon tags a solid ~30% extra onto for shipping and import. Alright, fair enough, it's not a small or light item and it's not cheap. However! If I buy the same thing second hand but still in the packaging (from Amazon!), I get free shipping and the import duties are no longer displayed. I assume they don't just vanish, because that can't be good for Amazon's margins. But at the same time, Amazon definitely knows I don't live in the US. Whuh?
