You guys are mad if you’re even risking video game performance for convenience regarding browser tabs.

Mad, I tell you.
This is why I kill Firefox so often, it unloads all the tabs from memory until you look at them.

I'd go into detail but no power here, only phone

Seriously. 4 tabs is enough for anyone if you have bookmarks, and manage them properly.

Ha ha yeah I keep everything important in my life on thousands of post it notes that I immediately throw randomly into a drawer, just in case I feel like wasting my time rifling through them later to remember things I stopped caring about.

Said no one ever who thought about what they were doing.

Uhm, bookmarking systems allow classification and categorization, and have since the 90s bro. It is not that hard to create sections for each thing you are interested in, and file the bookmark accordingly. It then takes all of 3 seconds or so to navigate to what you want to see from your bookmarks.

Keeping zillions of tabs open is just dumb.

Here's a nifty video on how to do this with chrome.

Well, it's not really like that at all. You're trying to make it seem haphazard; instead, the 10(?) or so bookmarked tabs appear below the address bar (at least in Chrome) and the rest are in an easily accessible list accessed by one click, allowing you to peruse all available bookmarks in order, neatly and efficiently.

Keeping tabs open just uses up needless computer resources. Of course, if it's a habit, that's understandable. If you find many tabs open to be aesthetically pleasing, go wild. But there's very little else to recommend it.

Do you guys think I was talking about bookmarks? Because I was talking about tabs. 100 unorganized partially-labeled tabs is akin to 100 post-its thrown in a drawer.

Oh, yea, that makes slightly more sense. Slightly. Bad analogy, methinks, though :P

AUTOPLAYING DYNAMIC CONTENT IS LIKE A POST-IT NOTE FLIP BOARD.

EVERYTHING IS POST-IT NOTE ANALOGIES NOW.

Rather than use bookmarks or tabs, I often just close the page and never look at it again. Maybe it's better this way. :P

I get anxious when a particularly difficult programming problem has me open 20+ tabs, and I get so relieved when I can finally close them again.

I don't like that guy's advice. You can add bookmarks merely by dragging the tab into the bookmark bar. Then make folders by right clicking on the bar or in a folder, for sub-folders. Basically, never bother opening the bookmark manager, but get the same benefits.

Hmm yeah, I agree. Basically I use it like a priority queue system. Anything that's in tabs is stuff I need to sort out in the current session. Things get dragged into the bookmark bar's free space, that's stuff that I need to sort out soonish, and longer term stuff goes in drop-down lists in the bar. A major advantage of bookmarks is that they can be renamed and grouped. Perhaps in the future some browser will get rid of the whole tab/bookmark dichotomy however, but it'd have to have sortable tabs which can be put into categories and are 100% unloaded when not active. Maybe have "Tabmarks" and when inactive, the website can in fact tell you that there's new data.

Ssssoooo...  some UK recruiter calling tomorrow

I'll consider all options.  Though  tbh I'm biased in favor of staying in Ireland in equality of conditions.  Unless the UK offer involves my more arcane interests, that is.
