Further on my building manager's highly competent actions:

Washing machine coin slider thing is still fucked, but at least I was able to save my $1.50 from being eaten by it.

Rules and regulations were apparently updated, come into effect on November 1st. This was highlighted in a letter pushed under everybody's door, saying if you want to know which rules and regulations are being updated you can get a book from her.

Her office hours are like, 12-3pm on a Thursday.

This happens frequently where I live just before, or just after a tornado/severe thunderstorm.

Given that the UK rarely has such extreme weather events, I am not surprised that you find this a strange occurrence.

Happens many times every summer over here in yank-land though.

I was wrong... the weird light is apparently due to the Irish storm swirling up the smoke from the fires in Portugal.
