I googled a language question regarding the difference between Serbo-Croation (the only people who say "Serbian" and "Croation" live in Serbia or Croatia) and Russian, and the second result was on stormfront.org (The Neo-Nazi White Pride website). I checked it (through google cache, fuck if I'm getting Stormfront on my browsing history, I'd rather be known for midget rape porn than neo-nazism.), and the whole racism thing didn't even to play into it (barring a brief digression on Turkish loanwords). But still, that's fucking weird.

Just like wtf google. Why you do this to me. And why must my countrymen do this? Believe me Serbs, white solidarity will get you absolutely nowhere.

...you're into midget rape porn?  ???

she was there to spread her point of view, and to her credit she did that without attempting to engage him.  and you guys missed the gold at the end about medieval formula

I'm not sure that's really possible, considering what I saw. I'm not talking about /pol if thats what you thought.

Meh, cuckchan is thoroughly tame these days. Unless you're deliberately going to /pol/, /d/, /b/, /v/, or wherever else is likely to offend your sensibilities.

I mean granted if her whole argument (I couldn't finish watching that either) is "you shouldn't HAVE to breastfeed" then whatever, but.  Not a smart hill to die on.

It is, basically. Or rather, I think, "we should put less pressure on women to breastfeed by saying that it is 'the Natural Way' (and/or the best way) because that may put a guilt yoke on women who naturally cannot breastfeed their children".

From what I can guess from the context it seems the original article might have been making the point that it's "unethical" for professionals in the professionals in the birthing/infant business to implicitly show a strong preference for breastfeeding when interacting with their patients, thereby creating a strong social pressure to breastfeed, because in today's society we also have baby formula (the word "natural" having very strong positive connotations in the public mind - think natural as opposed to "chemical", rather than unnatural, and you'll see what I'm getting at). Not making a point about it being somehow unnatural to breastfeed.

The issue with her arguement is she's trying to make a claim that isnt  true.

Shes trying to steal the credibility of 'nature' to her arguement.  She says, many times, that it is NOT natural to breastfeed, not that it is unethical for professionals to say so. She only references the ethics of professionals with regards to the study itself.  She is not there to claim that professionals should stop saying its natural to breastfeed, she is directly asserting that it is unnatural to do so and that more women should use formula and pass the baby around.

I dont know why, I can only assume, but she is in any case jumping the shark directly in order to spread her word.  Let it be known that as far as nature is concerned, breastfeeding is the only way for infants to get nutrition before that can nom things with their mouths.

Blood is a little too salty, surely? They'd boke it all up.

That is because you are a heron, and thus your mother lacked breasts. Which, as an aside, would make it HIGHLY unnatural for her to breastfeed you.

As for the actual topic... I can sympathize with what Scriver noted, that there is a LOT of societal pressure to breastfeed, with common jokes in media pointing out how a socially awkward or blatantly evil character 'must not have been breastfed' as a child. However, it isn't okay to make up history, science, or biology to support your point.

I'm absolutely fine with (and wholeheartedly endorse) the notion that there shouldn't be shame for people who choose to use formula, but that lady's way of making her point is rather guanopsychotic.

I sat next to a friend on the bus who was complaining about her family coming over and being annoying when she needed sleep. I gave her a sarcastic pat-pat on the shoulder, and in response she slumped on me and put her head on my shoulder for entirely too long to not be sincere. This is somebody I see maaaybe twice a week, and we spend most of our time together with headphones on looking at our own screens.

It's better for the sprat to be breastfed over formula, apparently, so professionals should show a preference towards breastfeeding, right?

Formula does exist, sure, but if it's not as good for the spawn then it's quite reasonable to try to get mothers to breastfeed. So even that argument seems to fall down.

Maybe sorta? But I mean a lot of boards feel calmer than they used to be, and a lot of the stuff liable to get people v& is less common or basically gone. It's still shit and still super-offensive if you're accustomed to a place like this, or if you're a facebook-goer. A lot of the really reprehensible sorts have already made their exit to greener pastures, by my understanding. My hazy memories of the past seem to recall a lot of the site being so fucked that I just stuck to /tg/ most of the time because all they had was magical realm and the occasional bitchfest about being overrun with anime quests.

Went to a BBQ with some friends today, was pretty sweet. One of the friends brought her younger sister because she had no plans and hey, the more the merrier.

Anyways, the girl was slightly obnoxious and annoying, but I'm willing to ascribe that to nerves and being uncomfortable with new people, I've had it happen to me so I'm not judging on that front. What I did have beef was being pestered to do a portrait of her from the second she learned I draw stuff. After finally caving (mostly because it was a bit of a lull and I had no idea what to draw at the time) and agreeing to it she proceeds to be unable to hold a single pose for longer than 10 seconds, despite repeated requests to do so. After some 15 minutes of that I was done with it, it came out better than I expected but it wasn't completely perfect. She's then suprised and slightly annoyed that it didn't come out perfect.

Some people, I just can't get in their shoes, how does someone operate like that, like, just, how???

Rule one of having any sort of demonstrable talent is to never show it off or let people know that you have it. Otherwise you will be pestered non-stop to show it off on any conceivable occasion. I actually quit guitar the first time I tried to learn it because it was that obnoxious.
