Just read a thing about how no countries are truly capitalist anymore, and how "real" capitalism died when they banned child labor and implemented a minimum wage.

It's an interesting thought though because I wonder how productive people were back then compared to now? If someone separated the state from the economy just as they did the church, would everything to back down the crapper?
Weirdly I have this feeling that businesses only do unethical crap in order to beat other businesses. Makes me wonder what would happen if a business "won". I feel like capitalism rampant enough that a business owns a country would just turn it back into socialism.

Nah. As has been said, that just means monopolies on a larger scale. We've seen what happens when companies get monopolies on discrete regions: they proceed to fuck everyone as hard as possible in order to maximize profits. For a modern example you need look no further than ISP behavior when they get total control of a city/county. For a classic example, look at how fucked the Gilded Age was. That's the true heart of capitalism: without political or forceful constraint capitalists will ruin the lives of millions whilst laughing at the notion of ethical restraint. It's why Teddy Roosevelt was a goddamn fucking hero and one of the most admirable presidents we've ever had even if you are vehemently opposed to his approach to foreign policy (the other big one was his conservation efforts).

Decided to play Legend of Mana on my PS3 today. Go to save, and the only internal memory card I've made is full. I don't have a memory card adapter. At least I was only 20 minutes or so into things, but still - how hard would it have been to allow virtual memory card creation while a game is running.

You mean when a business gets monopoly?  No competition or anything? 

There might be some problems, I'm pretty cynical.
Arbitrary price hikes, need to increase bonus for CEO and/or increase dividends (Epi-Pen currently has monopoly and the price was hiked up to 600 in the US, while it costs 70 in the UK.  Also, US interwebs are glowing testimonials to monopolies.  US ISP tend not to offer comparable service in the same areas, each one mostly sticking to their own fiefdoms.)
Selective maintenance, why spend too much money on that?  Just as long as it doesn't effect the 'important' people/places, everyone else can coast by with works-most-of-the-time.


But yea, this is in the context of modern capitalism.  The company is beholden to the shareholders/owner and their duty is profits/dividends. 
There are cases of shareholders/owners that look further then immediate self-enrichment though...  It shouldn't be considered the norm.

Maybe it might be better if you nationalize companies instead of giving them a carte blanche monopoly...

Yes, changing a gov't doesn't change the people governed.  But input of the governed is not equal between different forms of gov't.

Well the idea was that a capitalist with a monopoly generally is a form of government. Especially things like company towns
So once you have a Company Country, the winning company essentially has nationalised everything.

At which point their only goal would be to ramp up the productivity of their population in order to compete overseas. Which begs the question of 'how'.
Would the new corporate government fuck everyone over and introduce a massive class rift between educated specialists in R&D/Design and the low-class working masses?
