No, but I've haven't found many indie/electronic songs that produce that sort of image - it's not the "love" I mind, it's the songs about getting drunk and then deciding that no, that girl doesn't really want to be away from you. (Technically, I don't hear many indie/elec songs that I don't find myself - being in the heart of COUNTRY MURRICA, most radio stations, as well as most songs that people blast way too loud, are country or pop. That may have influenced my study anecdotal evidence.)

I mean, there are plenty of creepy electronic songs - anything that GLaDOS sings is very high on that chart. But that particular combination of "creepy dude" and "love" just weirds me out.

I guess that since Caroline was Chell's mother, there is a degree of love involved (see "Cara Mia"), but that's love-of-a-daughter. That has nothing to do with a drunken libidinous man trying to convince a woman to be with him.

And on the whole, I prefer indie/electronic/rock to country/pop, so yes, I rather would listen to creepy indie/elec than creepy country/pop.

It's not explicitly stated, but there are several hints that point to Chell being, if not a child of Cave and Caroline, at least some scientist's child. The most prominent is the overgrown potato in Portal 2, which is on a science-fair-project-paper with Chell's name on it.

My headcanon is that Cave and Caroline had a child, but didn't want to raise her. After all, they have science to do! So they get Doug to adopt Chell. This ties up many loose ends. For instance, in the Rattmann comic, Doug says that "he had a hunch" about Chell being able to defeat GLaDOS.

Of course, this assumes that GLaDOS is in fact Caroline. I can't remember if that was stated outright, but "her name is Caroline" (from the Oracle Turret), as well as Cara Mia (which means "my child" in Italian), make me very certain that my headcanon is true and that GLaDOS aka Caroline is the mother of Chell.

I am so happy that I can talk to people about Portal! Nobody else understands me... *dramatic sigh*

... what's NMA? Checking, there's like. Several dozen. Different things that use the acronym, and it'd be nice to know how much what you're describe is literal murder and how much isn't.
