It's extraordinary what they could get away with. But then again, it was probably easier with such a smaller audience. Hell, the Arena cover is so delightfully dated and tasteless, it warms my heart when I see it.
To be fair, most of the furries I've ever met identify with animals in a sort of totemic sense, but don't so much see themselves as animals. Nor do most of them want to boink anyone while in mascot costumes. The logistics seem way too complicated for that to be any fun.
Yeah, it's such a wide label. Which I guess is why there's a term "fursuiters", but honestly they don't bother me either. I don't get that part of it, but more power to'em.

When I think furries I mostly think of the amount of amazing anthro art they produce, as a community. Fics and webcomics, too... mostly nonsexual. I really dig that. It's kinda like how animes are colorcoded by hair, but taken to 9000 via species. Just a nifty type of art with a surprisingly passionate community, that's all.
Oddly, Morrowind Argonians only had boobs when wearing clothes. The game picked the Torso model based on character's sex, but naked torsos had Sex and Race Specific models. I don't have the game installed, nor a burning desire to screenshot nekkid lizard ladies, but they were flat as the guys were. You could tell gender based on their scale coloration and patterns, which I thought was Hella Cool. I just wish they'd reused the Male clothed torsos for the female Argonians, for consistency.
And thus ends my rant about lizard boobs.
Aww, they were wearing falsies to fit in ):
And they never needed to. >: Glorious snek people is great, whatever they're packing. Now, if only I could phrase that better...
Yes, it's a pretty damn wide spectrum, overlapping with many other spectrums, like subcultures (or whatever it is) tend to do. I do imagine that part of it is to wind up crybabies on the internet, but Lord knows the internet is full of crybabies in general.
the most weird thing about furries is how there's so many people that say that they hate furries who then go to watch children cartoon whose character casts are almost entirely composed out of furry characters
it's like there's this sort of disassociation thing going on where hating furries is a hip and cool thing to do, yet hating cartoons with furry characters in them is not
now someone will probably tell me that's not how furries work and that these children cartoon's human-animal hybrids are totally not furries
Mostly I think it's just become a part of general accepted and polite internet behaviour. It's a thing people do to fit in, and presumably because it's easy to assume the worst. Plus, hilarious tears are a possibility. Or where, I don't think "waaah fursecution" is a thing anymore. And I also imagine that it's a sort of projection thing. Little secrets and tastes people don't like to have (the general internet population is surprisingly puritan, at times, I've noticed), and letting some right weirdoes have it is probably one way to deal with them. I think, heaven knows I'm a layman in this area.
Well, depends. One of my friends is declared furry and he's cool and he basically never brings that up so it's okay. But of course, as with everything (MLP, durr), there are people who will... shove their fur down your throat, so to say.
My definition of furry is just a person who either wants to be/identifies as/has sexual attraction to anthropomorphized animals. I don't want to be one (being a regular cat and not giving a shit about whole world seems like a very interesting proposition, though), I don't identify as one and I'm not sexually attracted by them.
I just like fuc-
Wait, no, back.
I just like goddamn cats. They're so nice and soft and annoying assholes. Celestial Lions from Warhammer have Lions on their armour and it's cool. Khaijt are cool. Cats are cool.
A housecat's life sounds great, truth be told. Sounds like a pretty nice summary, that. But agreed, throats should be kept clear in general, no matter what it is. It's just good behaviour.
It's alright to li-ike things!
It's okay, but don't be a choking hazard about it!

Don't be a choking hazard about the things that you like!
