At the DMV getting a vehicle registration renewed. A bunch more tellers just came out. One of them mentioned they got only half-staff during lunch break.

Wtf they actually get a lunch break!? And they can walk away even with customers waiting!
Working for the government rocks apparently.

i work for my city's parks and recreation department and i get two payed 15 minute breaks with an unpayed 30 minute break. and those are real breaks not we expect you to work through this to get everything done "breaks". its awesome.

It's usually less "get to" and more "are obliged to". Most government-run facilities are union shops, which means contractually mandated breaks. Not that that's a bad thing, just that those workers likely wouldn't be allowed to not go on break even if they asked to keep working. You have to get your legally required breaks, and you don't get to slip in an extra hour or two of pay every week by cutting out break time.

Anyway, in NZ we get a minimum of one hour paid breaks per day. It's pretty good, really.

Today, I blew myself up. No, really. My propane grill tried to explode because I waited too long to light it.

I lost some of the hair on my arms, and they're a bit tender, but I'm okay otherwise. My lips may be burnt. My "perfect" block from Muay Thai isn't so perfect against a fireball, I guess. I still have eyebrows, so that's a plus.

Seriously considering calling in to work tomorrow.
